The Logistics Division, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with MyGov, invites citizens' suggestions and comments on the National Transport Master Plan, covering connectivity, travel experience and transport priorities for the next 10 years.

The Logistics Division, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with MyGov, invites suggestions and comments from citizens for the preparation of the National Transport Master Plan, which will guide the country's road, railway, aviation, maritime and urban connectivity over the next 10 years.

On the occasion of the 5th Anniversary of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (13 October 2026), this discussion seeks the on-ground experience and ideas of citizens who travel every day, whether for work, study, business or family. The aim is an integrated, multimodal and citizen-centric transport network that makes the movement of people and goods faster, safer and smoother.

Citizens are invited to share views on the following:

      1. First and last mile connectivity: how easily you can reach and leave stations, bus stands, airports and ports.
      2. Amenities and facilities in Railways and Roadways: at railway stations, bus stands, highways and rest areas.
      3. Expected travel time and experience from the National Capital to State Capitals: what is reasonable and what you actually experience.
      4. Expected travel time and experience from State Capitals to District Headquarters: what is reasonable and what you actually experience.
      5. Preferred mode of travel: Rail, Road or Air, and why.
      6. Local transport, including Metro and buses: availability, reliability, comfort and safety.
      7. Infrastructure priority: whether the Government should prioritise Roads or Railways, and why.
      8. Adherence to traffic laws: your suggestions to improve road discipline and safety.

Promote walking paths near stations. Auto-rickshaws must have strict meter systems or fixed rate charts to stop unfair overcharging of new travelers. Install functional lifts and escalators at all platforms for senior citizens. Provide more benches so delayed passengers don't sleep on cold floors. Clean toilets every two hours to maintain hygiene. Trains are highly affordable, but massive overcrowding must be checked. Rigid airport-like strict time cut-offs are unfair for slightly late travelers. Local stations need better cleaning. Strict coach capacities must be enforced so that 6 people don't crowd a 3-seater lower berth. Trains are the absolute best and cheapest for long travel; driving on roads brings heavy traffic stress. Metros and buses are convenient. Women's safety and affordable access should always be prioritized.Government should build new highways to reduce travel times and safely connect long distances.

India is on way to become developed nation very soon, in this regard, we need disciplined people/society who abide rules and regulations like country USA. We see lot of violations in traffic rules by public. Government should come out with strict laws like USA, to stop this menace. Any individual violating traffic rules more than 5 times, his driving licence should be cancelled automatically. Again to get licence, he should write detailed theory paper and tough practical test. Another five times traffic violations, individual licence should be cancelled for two years. I request government to implement law in this regard immediately to bring traffic management under control and safety for general public. Thank you. Any clarification, please call me. S. Umasankar

I suggest improving railway connectivity, safety, and passenger facilities across India. More trains should be introduced on busy routes, and railway services should be expanded to rural and remote areas. Stations should have clean toilets, safe drinking water, proper lighting, CCTV cameras, escalators, and facilities for senior citizens and persons with disabilities. Train schedules should be reliable, and real-time updates about delays, platforms, and cancellations should be available through mobile apps and display boards. Special attention should be given to women's safety, cleanliness, affordable tickets, and better last-mile connectivity between railway stations, buses, and local transport. These improvements will make railway travel safer, faster, more comfortable, and accessible to everyone while supporting India's vision of Viksit Bharat.

PM GatiShakti should focus on building a well-connected, safe, affordable and efficient transport network across India. Better coordination between railways, highways, state transport buses, metro services and local transport can reduce travel time and improve connectivity. Special attention should be given to rural areas, small towns, educational institutions and industrial zones so that students, workers, farmers and small businesses can access better opportunities. Railway stations and bus stands should provide clean drinking water, hygienic toilets, proper lighting, digital information boards, ramps for persons with disabilities and safe waiting areas. The government should also improve last-mile connectivity, strengthen road safety, maintain existing roads and introduce reliable public transport services. Digital route planning and real-time updates should help passengers plan their journeys easily.

In my opinion, the National Transport Master Plan should focus on making transportation easier and more accessible for everyone, not just people living in big cities. Many villages and small towns still lack proper roads, reliable bus services and good railway connectivity. Better transport facilities in these areas would help students, patients, workers and small business owners in their daily lives. The government should also focus on maintaining existing roads, improving road safety, reducing traffic congestion and making public transport affordable. Proper connectivity between villages, towns and cities can create more opportunities for education, employment and trade.

      1. Infrastructure Priority (Roads vs. Railways): Instead of treating them as separate sectors, they must be developed as Integrated Multi-Modal Hubs. Highest priority should be given to developing Smart Feeder Roads' that connect remote rural areas to major railway freight corridors. This will significantly reduce last-mile logistics costs and connect rural producers directly to national markets. 2. Adherence to Traffic Laws & Road Safety: Compliance cannot be achieved by fines alone. We need to establish a Community Road Safety Alliance in every mandal by actively involving local NGOs and youth. High-risk Black Spots should be identified through community mapping, establishing local surveillance and immediate first-responder networks. Actively involving NGOs in the transport master plan will be a true catalyst for Viksit Bharat.

For Mann ki baat Respected sir 1.Movies is a strong media which influence all especially the youth. Now a days violent scenes are too much in films. By watching violent movies the negative hormones affect the human body. New laws should be made to censor the violent / smoking/ drinking alcohol scenes in the films. People have tendency to adopt the ideas of killing and fighting scenes shown in film. If possible don’t give certificate to violent films. Promote comedy films and devotional films. 2. Stringent measures to be taken to prevent narcotics business. The law should be made more powerful. Save the youth. 3. Promote travelling habit of the people. Thank you sir
