The Logistics Division, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with MyGov, invites citizens' suggestions and comments on the National Transport Master Plan, covering connectivity, travel experience and transport priorities for the next 10 years.

The Logistics Division, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with MyGov, invites suggestions and comments from citizens for the preparation of the National Transport Master Plan, which will guide the country's road, railway, aviation, maritime and urban connectivity over the next 10 years.

On the occasion of the 5th Anniversary of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (13 October 2026), this discussion seeks the on-ground experience and ideas of citizens who travel every day, whether for work, study, business or family. The aim is an integrated, multimodal and citizen-centric transport network that makes the movement of people and goods faster, safer and smoother.

Citizens are invited to share views on the following:

      1. First and last mile connectivity: how easily you can reach and leave stations, bus stands, airports and ports.
      2. Amenities and facilities in Railways and Roadways: at railway stations, bus stands, highways and rest areas.
      3. Expected travel time and experience from the National Capital to State Capitals: what is reasonable and what you actually experience.
      4. Expected travel time and experience from State Capitals to District Headquarters: what is reasonable and what you actually experience.
      5. Preferred mode of travel: Rail, Road or Air, and why.
      6. Local transport, including Metro and buses: availability, reliability, comfort and safety.
      7. Infrastructure priority: whether the Government should prioritise Roads or Railways, and why.
      8. Adherence to traffic laws: your suggestions to improve road discipline and safety.

First and last mile connectivity refers to how easily people can travel from their homes or workplaces to railway stations, bus stands, airports and ports, and reach their final destinations after getting off. Good connectivity through local buses, auto-rickshaws, taxis, metro services, and other transport options makes travel easier and more convenient. Proper roads, affordable transport, safe walking paths, and easy access to public transport help save time and reduce travel difficulties. Better first and last mile connectivity also encourages people to use public transport instead of private vehicles, helping to reduce traffic congestion and pollution. Overall, it plays an important role in making transportation more accessible, affordable, and comfortable for everyone.

The PM Gati Shakti project (number 703477)—the Kottoor (Kerala) to Ambasamudram road construction—addresses a long-standing public demand. It would serve as a direct east-west corridor. By incorporating tunnels and elevated bridges, the project can be executed without causing environmental damage. Much like the Suez Canal, this route would facilitate the rapid transport of cargo—unloaded at Vizhinjam Port—to ports located along the Bay of Bengal. If the government determines that certain routes are unsuitable for freight transport—or recognizes that such transport could cause environmental damage—it should implement the 'Parvatmala Pariyojana' (National Ropeways Development Programme) to provide ropeway services for passenger travel. In cases where constructing mountain roads between two nearby towns is not feasible, a ropeway-based public transport system should be established to reduce travel time for the people living in those regions and improve tourism

An often-ignored side is unauthorized parking add to traffic congestion in india, due to multiple authorities involved, it's never implemented, govt should actively build multi-level parking, govt can crowdsource data of illegal parking on roads, it will speed up things. Traffic camera shpuld be implemented across india. We have stree light we can use that infra to build traffice camera acorsss india

Vision for door to door connectivity has to be strengthened. Highway to door connectivity is a serious issue. It’s not only metro, city bus, or auto but Indian way of life, business, and transportation is not taken care at all. There is no way for bullock carts, cattle’s, two wheeler, pedestrians to cross. For no reason highways cross city or village roads and slow down traffic with signal and police. There is no consideration for tea stalls, bus stops, pickup or drop points. It’s not just road but total infrastructure and appropriate utility vehicles or media should be thought. A solution like Ro-Ro Transport should be innovatively developed. Can I take a 2, 4 wheeler from home to rail and or ship then to destinations. Instead of huge trucks a container from a point to Ro Ro and then to door on other side? Under ground transportation helps in case of war situation too. End to end Speed of traffic should be targeted without policing in between. Safely from local crime need attention
