The Logistics Division, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with MyGov, invites citizens' suggestions and comments on the National Transport Master Plan, covering connectivity, travel experience and transport priorities for the next 10 years.

The Logistics Division, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with MyGov, invites suggestions and comments from citizens for the preparation of the National Transport Master Plan, which will guide the country's road, railway, aviation, maritime and urban connectivity over the next 10 years.

On the occasion of the 5th Anniversary of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (13 October 2026), this discussion seeks the on-ground experience and ideas of citizens who travel every day, whether for work, study, business or family. The aim is an integrated, multimodal and citizen-centric transport network that makes the movement of people and goods faster, safer and smoother.

Citizens are invited to share views on the following:

      1. First and last mile connectivity: how easily you can reach and leave stations, bus stands, airports and ports.
      2. Amenities and facilities in Railways and Roadways: at railway stations, bus stands, highways and rest areas.
      3. Expected travel time and experience from the National Capital to State Capitals: what is reasonable and what you actually experience.
      4. Expected travel time and experience from State Capitals to District Headquarters: what is reasonable and what you actually experience.
      5. Preferred mode of travel: Rail, Road or Air, and why.
      6. Local transport, including Metro and buses: availability, reliability, comfort and safety.
      7. Infrastructure priority: whether the Government should prioritise Roads or Railways, and why.
      8. Adherence to traffic laws: your suggestions to improve road discipline and safety.

PM GatiShakti should evolve into a One Nation, One Transport Grid by integrating railway networks, highways, inland waterways, airports, metro systems, bus services and freight corridors through a common digital platform. Using artificial intelligence, digital twins and real-time traffic data, the platform could predict congestion, identify logistics bottlenecks and recommend the most efficient transport combinations for passengers and goods. A unified mobility interface could provide coordinated schedules, seamless ticketing, accessible route information and multimodal freight tracking. This approach would reduce travel delays, transportation costs and logistics inefficiencies while improving connectivity between industrial centres, agricultural markets, tourist destinations and emerging economic regions.

India should develop Green GatiShakti Corridors that integrate transport infrastructure with climate action, biodiversity conservation and renewable energy. Every major transport project could undergo a unified environmental assessment using geospatial technology to identify flood-prone areas, forest zones, wildlife corridors and vulnerable ecosystems before construction begins. Solar-powered transport facilities, electric vehicle charging stations, rainwater harvesting, green bridges and roadside native plantations should become standard design features. A national sustainability dashboard could monitor carbon emissions, tree survival, water conservation and ecological restoration, ensuring that infrastructure development accelerates economic growth without compromising environmental security or the well-being of future generations.

India’s transport transformation must begin with its villages. Under PM GatiShakti, a GatiShakti Gram Connect Mission could map every village, tribal settlement, agricultural cluster and remote habitation that lacks reliable road, rail or public transport connectivity. By integrating geospatial data with population needs, educational institutions, healthcare facilities, markets and employment centres, the government can prioritise infrastructure investments where they create the greatest social impact. Dedicated last-mile connectivity plans should link rural communities to national highways, railway stations and logistics hubs, ensuring that geographical isolation never limits access to opportunities.

Railway lounges need proper maintenance, clean washrooms, and adequate lighting. Train delays lasting several hours cause passengers to miss important commitments, so punctuality and real-time updates must be improved. The government should prioritise railway infrastructure, safety, and maintenance. Railways are an affordable and convenient mode of transport, especially for students and middle-class families. Ensuring safe, clean, and punctual services will benefit millions of citizens.

India needs a safe, affordable and efficient transport system. The government should improve roads, railways, buses and metro services. Railway stations and bus stands must provide clean facilities and better connectivity. Strict traffic rules and road-safety awareness should reduce accidents. Priority should be given to public transport, rural connectivity and environmentally friendly travel to make transportation faster and more comfortable for everyone. Many countries like USA,Russia and china are already developed the infrastructure and transportation facilities so we will also improve our infrastructure.

Sir The no of private vehicles on road is increasing on a daily basis specially in metro cities. Projects like Metro Projects to be made operational within a stipulated time . The travel time to work even for 10-15 kms is taking hours to reach. Local transport like buses are in poor maintenance and bus stands lack basic amenities and cleanliness. Roads are never ending for on going work, few months cemented road is built. Suddenly are being dug for some work.. or some new project pops up...road discipline can only be followed if the roads are in proper condition

In my view, India needs an integrated, safe, affordable and reliable transport system that connects cities, towns and villages efficiently. The government should improve both roads and railways, strengthen first- and last-mile connectivity, and ensure clean facilities, punctual services and better local transport. Special attention should be given to district-level connectivity, pedestrian safety and accessibility for persons with disabilities. Strict enforcement of traffic rules, real-time travel information and regular monitoring of infrastructure quality are equally important. Development should be measured not only by new infrastructure but also by the safety, convenience and time saved for citizens.

In 20 years Tripura’s road width has grown only ~10%, but vehicles keep rising daily: nearly 20 lakh for ~40 lakh people. A trip that took 1 hr 25 years ago now takes 2.5 hrs, wasting time, fuel and money. Suggestions: Widen NH-8 & key state roads to 4 lanes; build an Agartala ring road and town bypasses. Flyovers & smart signals at busy junctions; clear encroachments and roadside parking. Reliable e-buses and more DEMU trains (Agartala–Udaipur–Sabroom) to cut private vehicle use. Organise unemployed youth running vehicles into licensed feeder cooperatives linked to bus/rail hubs: jobs with order. Road capacity check before new registrations in congested zones. Wider roads = faster Tripura.

*Viksit Bharat Kaise Banega 2047?* Mera Sutra: Teen ke baad Do. Aadarniya Modi Ji, Main Renuka Reshimkar, Solapur se. Teen hain - Dawa, Dua, Daan. Do hain - Ram, Bharat. Corona me Apex Hospital solapur me dekha, Doctor Sanjeevani dete hain, yahi Dawa hai. Ayodhya se Dua milti hai. Dawa sharir, Dua aatma thik karti hai. Aapne DBT diya, main ise Ram DBT kehti hoon. Pehle paisa beech me kha jata tha, ab seedha khate me jata hai. Sabse bada Daan Jal Daan hai. Maine pyasi Gaumata ko paani pilaya, man ko shanti mili. Solapur jaise sukhe ko Sindhu ka paani mile to kisan, Gaumata khush honge. Ram Sanskar, Bharat Vikas hai. Jai Shri Ram! _Renuka Prabhakar Reshimkar, Solapur._
