The Logistics Division, DPIIT, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with MyGov, invites citizens' suggestions and comments on the National Transport Master Plan, covering connectivity, travel experience and transport priorities for the next 10 years.

The Logistics Division, Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, in collaboration with MyGov, invites suggestions and comments from citizens for the preparation of the National Transport Master Plan, which will guide the country's road, railway, aviation, maritime and urban connectivity over the next 10 years.

On the occasion of the 5th Anniversary of the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan (13 October 2026), this discussion seeks the on-ground experience and ideas of citizens who travel every day, whether for work, study, business or family. The aim is an integrated, multimodal and citizen-centric transport network that makes the movement of people and goods faster, safer and smoother.

Citizens are invited to share views on the following:

      1. First and last mile connectivity: how easily you can reach and leave stations, bus stands, airports and ports.
      2. Amenities and facilities in Railways and Roadways: at railway stations, bus stands, highways and rest areas.
      3. Expected travel time and experience from the National Capital to State Capitals: what is reasonable and what you actually experience.
      4. Expected travel time and experience from State Capitals to District Headquarters: what is reasonable and what you actually experience.
      5. Preferred mode of travel: Rail, Road or Air, and why.
      6. Local transport, including Metro and buses: availability, reliability, comfort and safety.
      7. Infrastructure priority: whether the Government should prioritise Roads or Railways, and why.
      8. Adherence to traffic laws: your suggestions to improve road discipline and safety.

I respectfully submit these suggestions with the hope of contributing to India’s next phase of transport development. While our country has made significant progress in infrastructure, greater integration, reliable last-mile connectivity, passenger safety, affordability and measurable service quality can make these investments more beneficial to every citizen. I humbly request that these recommendations, particularly the proposed National Passenger Journey Index, be considered for future transport planning. Thank you for providing citizens with an opportunity to contribute to nation-building.

Good morning respected prime minister Sri, Modi Ji, My pleasure to write some of my thoughts for the above subject. Our transport system in the main cities we should start with a high standard, systematic operation. Start with train stations, in India almost all railway stations has many entrance and without any proper control any people can enter in the station, where as if we look at any foreign country, it’s not possible and there are entry and exit with very strictly controlled. It should be similar like in the airport how we use entry and exit system . Also my kind request is to have the stations fully covered, because our trains has a extra length compare to other countries and mostly the stations are without shaded, which is badly effecting specially during rainy season who travels by train. Similarly we should consider the bus stations as well. Another main issue is clearness and public awareness on how to use the public property in a respectful manner is very important too.

I have suggestions on long term plan for transport infrastructure in 3 levels 1. Lego flyovers: These are the flyovers made of compressed earth material. These can be made using mountains of junk yards. Legos can be made and installed as flyovers with ease. This can help making plenty of flyovers in just days and not months reducing the congestions on small roads also. 2. Securing highways with CCTV cameras to punish vandalisms. Also punish the contractors for low quality highways. Both are common in India. Infrastructure should not be at the cost of environmental ecology. It will not sustain. 3. There are testing of floating trains happening in few countries. Why is our Bharat not in that list? It will change the landscape of travelling in India. It is still miserable to book train ticket and travel by train at times. This needs additional infrastructure to have 6 lane railway lines. This be implemented for freight corridor first and see the result.

“A developed nation is not measured by the roads it builds, but by the opportunities those roads create.” India’s vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 requires a transport system that is smart, sustainable, inclusive, and accessible to every citizen. PM GatiShakti is a transformative initiative that can strengthen economic growth through integrated infrastructure planning. I would like to suggest some innovative ideas to make India’s transportation network more efficient and future-ready. 1. One Nation, One Smart Transport Network: Develop an AI-powered digital platform connecting railways, highways, waterways, airports, and public transport. It should provide real-time information on routes, traffic, costs, and travel time. 2. Green Transport Corridors: Promote solar-powered highways, electric buses, EV charging stations, and hydrogen-powered transportation to reduce pollution and achieve India's net-zero emission target by 2070. 3. Rural Connectivity Revolution:

PM GatiShakti should introduce GatiShakti Opportunity Corridors to ensure that transport infrastructure directly generates employment, entrepreneurship and inclusive regional development. By overlaying transport networks with skill centres, colleges, industrial clusters, agricultural production zones, tourism destinations and aspirational districts, planners could identify locations where improved connectivity would unlock the greatest livelihood opportunities. Dedicated logistics facilities, rural enterprise hubs, cold-storage networks and affordable public transport should connect farmers, artisans, women entrepreneurs and young people to wider markets. Each corridor could include a livelihood impact dashboard measuring jobs created, travel-time reductions, market access and local enterprise growth, linking infrastructure investment with measurable progress towards Viksit Bharat @ 2047.

To make integrated infrastructure planning more inclusive, PM GatiShakti should introduce a GatiShakti Jan Bhagidari platform where citizens, students, panchayats, self-help groups, youth organisations and local businesses can identify transport gaps and propose solutions. Citizens could submit geotagged photographs of damaged roads, unsafe railway crossings, missing bus connections and inaccessible public facilities through a multilingual mobile application. AI-enabled analysis could categorise submissions, identify recurring problems and forward them to relevant departments. Public dashboards should display proposal status, departmental responses and project progress, creating transparent, participatory and accountable infrastructure planning that reflects ground realities rather than relying exclusively on centralised assessments.
