The National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR), in collaboration with MyGov, invites suggestions  on the draft Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) on the “Prevention & Response Framework for Drugs & Substance Use among Children.”

The SOP is being developed by NCPCR in accordance with the Joint Action Plan on Prevention of Drugs and Substance Abuse among Children and Illicit Trafficking, 2021.

The proposed Framework will incorporate inputs received from various stakeholders, emerging best practices, recent research, and relevant recommendations contained in the NCORD Vision Document.

The Framework aims to provide a comprehensive and child-centric approach for the prevention, early identification, response, treatment, rehabilitation, and reintegration of children affected by drug and substance use and illicit trafficking.

Through this initiative, NCPCR seeks valuable suggestions from stakeholders and citizens to strengthen the proposed Framework and ensure a coordinated, effective, and rights-based response to address drug and substance use among children.

MSMEs are dying under steep steel price hikes by SAIL. Saying “steel is deregulated” cannot be an excuse for the Government to abandon MSMEs. Is government protection only for the rich and powerful, while small businesses are left to die? Is this the meaning of “Seva” to the nation?

“I believe prevention should begin with awareness and education from an early age. Children and young people need a safe environment where they can openly discuss the risks of drugs and substance use without fear or stigma. Schools, parents, communities and government agencies should work together to promote healthy lifestyles, counselling and early support. My sketch represents a simple message: Say No to Drugs, Choose Health and Choose a Better Future. A drug-free generation can build a healthier and stronger society.”

Prevention: Restricting physical access to substances and stopping the cycle before it takes root. Early Identification: Building peer-led and school-level networks to spot signs of vulnerability early. Response: Training law enforcement and protection agencies to handle affected minors with empathy, treating them as victims rather than criminals. Treatment: Deploying child psychologists and medical detox frameworks to treat substance abuse as a health crisis. Rehabilitation: Structuring systemic support systems to address domestic triggers, mental health struggles, and chemical dependency. Reintegration: Re-enrolling recovered children into stable educational formats, life-skills training, and safe community spaces to prevent relapse

Proposed Pilot Programme NCPCR may consider a district-level pilot involving schools, District Child Protection Units, health services, law-enforcement agencies and IPH&H. The pilot may include preventive health education, teacher and parent training, first-response instruction, confidential referral, counselling support and rehabilitation-linked skill development. MANOVAANI-Voice of Mind is an initiative started by the college for the mental well being sessions of students. They are given one and one session wellness sessions to discuss on their well being and are suggested various methods for keeping them stress free and happy. The framework should be guided by one central principle: protect the child, address the underlying causes and provide a genuine pathway towards recovery, education and a dignified future. The above framework is proposed by Fairfield and IPH&H Group of Institutions, affiliated by GGSIP University, A NAAC A+ college approved by DHE.

The very first thing starts from there home where childs relationship with parents and family members shapes their behaviour, so parents should not ignore them they should sit with them and share ideas and daily happenings and also parents should not avoid their child . Parents also interact with their child's friends so that they can know that hows their child's friend circle is , also spend time with their child and do mindful activities.
