There are reports that currently employed teachers are seeking concessions regarding the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET). If the government intends to offer any concessions, exemptions from the eligibility test could be granted to teachers with disabilities (PWD), those retiring within five years, or those over the age of 55. For all other teachers, the eligibility test should remain mandatory. Teachers granted such exemptions must be required to undergo additional, continuous annual training.A teacher must demonstrate high proficiency in the subject they teach. Teacher eligibility tests are essential for teachers to continuously enhance their skills in their respective subjects. State governments have begun to weaken regulations in an effort to protect incumbent teachers rather than prioritizing the welfare of students. Teachers in govt and govt-aided schools—whether under central, state, or local bodies—must be selected for continued employment and promotion strictly through TET

The Central Government must base its decisions solely on the future of the students. Furthermore, the teacher eligibility test requirement should be extended to vocational education (ITI) as well. Under the New Education Policy, there is a need to introduce vocational education to students in schools. The Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) should be made mandatory for those employed to impart vocational training in vocational training institutes. A CTET examination should also be conducted for vocational teacher positions. Opportunities will emerge in vocational training institutes and industries; individuals possessing the requisite educational qualifications or work experience should be given these opportunities. There is a high likelihood of irregularities arising in the special eligibility tests conducted by state governments for currently employed teachers.

CPGRAMS or any public grievance portal becomes meaningless when the grievance does not actually reach the concerned Minister and is handled only by bureaucratic officers. In common practice, the grievance is disposed of at the officer level, often without effective action. The public believes the matter has reached the top, while the Minister may never even see the grievance. This defeats the very purpose of a public grievance system.

Respected Prime Minister Sir, I wish to highlight an important issue faced by families where both spouses are serving in Government/public institutions under different administrative jurisdictions. I am serving in a Government institution under the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, while my wife is an Assistant Professor in a State University in Bihar. We have minor children and are compelled to live separately due to our postings, making childcare, education and family responsibilities extremely difficult. Existing spouse-posting provisions do not appear to adequately cover combinations such as State/State University and Union Territory services. I humbly request consideration of a uniform, gender-neutral spouse-posting/family-unification policy covering Central, State, UT and University employees, particularly where minor children are involved, subject to availability of posts and administrative requirements. Such a policy would support women’s participation in public service.
