The Ministry of Agriculture & Farmers Welfare, in collaboration with MyGov, invites farmers, citizens, agricultural experts and stakeholders to share their innovative ideas, suggestions and practical solutions on protecting soil health and safeguarding agricultural land through better farm management practices. Participants are encouraged to propose actionable measures for soil and water conservation, sustainable agricultural practices, efficient utilisation of natural resources, and improving crop productivity. The initiative aims to promote responsible farming practices, preserve soil fertility, protect agricultural resources and strengthen India's long-term food and nutritional security.

Your ideas and suggestions can contribute towards building a sustainable and resilient agricultural future for India.

Fallow fields lose moisture rapidly and are prone to severe nutrient leaching. Planting non-cash cover crops during off-seasons ensures that living roots actively pump carbon into the soil while keeping the surface firmly anchored

I am pleased to submit my innovative proposal, "MISSION DHARTI 360° – Healthy Soil, Healthy Crops, Sustainable India." This initiative focuses on protecting soil health through scientific soil testing, digital Soil Health Passports, crop residue management, rainwater harvesting, efficient irrigation, sustainable crop rotation and integrated pest management. My objective is to promote practical, affordable and farmer-friendly solutions that improve soil fertility, reduce crop losses, conserve natural resources and increase agricultural productivity. I believe healthy soil is the foundation of sustainable agriculture and India's long-term food security. Together, we can build a greener, healthier and self-reliant India. **Save Soil, Conserve Water, Protect Crops – Secure India's Future.** Submitted by: PRANAV BHOKARE

Respected Prime Minister, I would like to suggest that more opportunities should be created for youth in education, employment and self-employment. Students in rural areas should have access to quality education, digital facilities and better resources for competitive exam preparation. This will help young people become self-reliant and contribute to building a stronger and developed India. Thank you.

Chemical fertilizers provide isolated, quick-release nutrients but completely fail to nourish the living biological community within the soil, ultimately degrading its structure over time.

Cultivating the exact same crop on the same plot of land year after year systematically depletes specific plant nutrients and allows crop-specific pests and diseases to colonize the field permanently.

Conventional plowing disrupts the delicate underground ecosystem, accelerates the breakdown of organic matter, and leaves topsoil vulnerable to heavy erosion. Transitioning to low-till or zero-till practices preserves the soil's natural structure and protects beneficial fungal networks like mycorrhizae.

Protecting soil health and saving our crops requires a comprehensive shift from intensive, chemical-heavy agricultural systems to regenerative farm management practices. Over-tillage, mono-cropping, and the excessive application of synthetic inputs deplete the organic carbon, beneficial microbial populations, and structural integrity of agricultural soils. Implementing a systematic framework centered on conservation, crop diversity, biological enrichment, and precise water management helps farmers restore natural soil fertility, suppress stubborn pest cycles, and secure long-term crop yields.

Crop Rotation: Switch plant families each season to break pest/disease cycles and replenish soil nutrients naturally. Cover Crops: Plant cover crops (like legumes, rye, or clover) between main harvests to prevent soil erosion, suppress weeds, and fix nitrogen. Integrated Pest Management (IPM): Use beneficial insects, crop diversity, and biological controls to manage pests while minimizing synthetic chemical use.
