Dehradun is in the Doon Valley on the foothills of the Himalayas nestled between two of India's mightiest rivers — the Ganges on the east and the Yamuna on the west.Dehradun is one of the oldest cities of India and is now the Provisional Capital of Uttaranchal (Now Uttarakhand). Also known as the ‘Adobe of Drona’. It is also the headquarters of many National Institutes and Organizations like ONGC, Survey Of India, Forest Research Institute, Indian Institute of Petroleum etc. Some of the premier educational and Training Institutes like Indian Military Academy, Rashtriya Indian Military College, Indira Gandhi National Forest Academy also here in Dehradun. It is a favored tourist destination as it attracts tourists, pilgrims and enthusiasts from various walks of life to its serene environs. Add to this the abundance of special Basmati rice, tea and Leechi gardens which contribute in turning the city into a paradise.
Ministry of Urban Development, Government of India has selected ‘Dehradun’ to submit Smart City proposal and participate in 100 smart cities challenge competition. In this regard, we invite Students and residents of Dehradun to participate in the essay competition.
ESSAY TOPIC
"Dehradun , The City of My Dreams ‘ kal aaj aur kal"
• Maximum word limit - 1000 words
• All the essays must be submitted in .pdf (PDF) format
• Participants can submit their essay in – English or Hindi
The essay should address following concerns:
• What you expect from a smarter Dehradun (200 Words).
• Area to have most focus & attention to build up smart Dehradun. (150 words)
• What best you can suggest to overcome the problems faced today to be integrated to build smarter Dehradun. (200 words)
• What role you see as a person is you towards the society & building a better/smarter society. (200 Words)
• How the smart city be developed
The Competition is open for 2 categories 1.Students and 2. Open
a) After due evaluation 1st 3 winners in both categories will receive a trophy with letter of appreciation on the occasion of “Uttarakhand Day – 9th November” from Vice Chairman, MDDA
How to Submit
• All the entries must be submitted online through http://mygov.in. No other medium of submission will be accepted.
• Please mention Your Name, Address and Contact Number on top of your entry. Students shall mention the name of School/ College and Class. The competition shall be closed on 5th November, 2015.
Terms and Conditions
• The winner shall be chosen on the basis of originality of ideas, Innovativeness and Creativity.
• The decision of MDDA for selecting the winner shall be treated as final.
• MDDA, Dehradun reserves the right to cancel or amend all or any part of the competition and/or the terms/condition without notice.
