On the occasion of Ganga Vriksharopan Saptah, the Namami Gange Program planted approximately 1 crore plants in five states along the course of river Ganga – Uttar Pradesh, Uttrakhand, West Bengal, Bihar and Jharkhand.

The Ministry of Water Resources, River Development and Ganga Rejuvenation (WR, RD and GR), is responsible for the conservation, management and development of water as a national resource; overall national perspective of water planning and coordination about diverse uses of water; general policy, technical assistance, research and development, training and matters relating to irrigation and multi-purpose projects, groundwater management; conjunctive use of surface and groundwater, command area development, flood management including drainage, flood-proofing, water logging, sea erosion and dam safety.

Ministry of Jal Shakti in collaboration with MyGov hosted a contest to Design a lapel Pin/ Badge for Swachh Sujal Shakti Sammaan to celebrate women’s leadership in achieving Swachh and Sujal Gaon under Swachh Bharat Mission (Grameen) and Jal Jeevan Mission, and other national priorities relating to water.
