Handloom products constitute an integral part of the India’s heritage and culture. Showcasing various vibrant aspects of the cultural heritage of India, the handloom sector provides employment, directly and indirectly to over 43 lakh handloom weavers, belonging to socially and economically weaker sections of the society particularly in the rural areas.

Varanasi has a rich cultural heritage and Banaras silk sarees and crafts are an integral part of the Indian landscape. Varanasi handloom makes India proud of its heritage. The handloom and handicraft products of Varanasi have got wide recognition all over the country and abroad for their highly artistic design, colour combination, superior craftsmanship and long durability.

Keeping in view the vision of making the handloom and handicraft industry of Varanasi and neighbouring areas, market oriented and for generating productive employment, the Government of India is setting up of a Trade Facilitation Centre and a Crafts Museum to develop and promote the handlooms, handicrafts and silk products of Varanasi and to provide necessary help to weavers, artisans and entrepreneurs of Varanasi for boosting their marketing activities in domestic as well as international markets and carry forward the rich tradition of handlooms at Varanasi.Hon’ble Prime Minister of India laid foundation stone of Trade Facilitation Centre and a Crafts Museum on 7th November 2014 at BadaLalpur, Varanasi.

Your valuable views and opinion is sought on the concept and facilities/services to be provided in the Trade Facilitation Centre and the Crafts Museum at Varanasi.

A comprehensive and holistic approach is the only way to ensure development. These artisans require is skill-building on latest techniques, market access to their products (ensure buyers in urban or international markets), financing schemes on capital expenditure for new equipment. For all these areas government needs to make policies and most importantly have a time frame to implement the same, else the effecitiveness of these schemes will be lost.

I can revolutionize this sector, but idea will be told only in person to either Shri.Modi ji or his top men. Pl contact 314.452.0002 Idea is so powerful that, it has the potential to change the way world does this business. If I had enough funds, I would do it myself. For lack of funds, I am not able to execute myself.

before giving any trade facilities please give your attention on this issue: country's biggest scam is happening on Ports/customs, e.g importers r showing 10% goods and paying 29% duty on only those 10% goods, rest 90% goods imports illegally.these types of illegal acts r making domestic manufacturing industries a "dead".pls take strong actions ASAP .ur Prompt actions will support our currency and CAD too.

Varanasi is Known for its craftwork in India, Mostly people specially from Minority communities are engaged in this work. But their economic conditions is not good. The government should ensure their income and they should be provided loan for their work. Though government has already started 'WEAVER'S CREDIT CARD' scheme, but it is still miles away to reach in the needy hands. For this purpose government should established advisory board to ensure the success of this scheme.

The government can try buying manufactured goods from these handloomers and then sell them in the market, like it is done in case of farm produce. This will ensure that handloomers get their money and coustomers get quality.

Sir, we have to implement new ideas, failure is the pillar of success. If we work more we may make more mistakes and if we became idle then we will never make any mistake. Mistakes should be welcome because we may correct the same in future. Work is worship
