Varanasi is also famous for sweets and Langra mangoes. Linking handicrafts and handlooms with sweets and mangoes and its by-products certainly has the potential to make Varanasi as the most sought after destination. Planning of market-places specialising in mangoes, sweets, sarees, carpets, handloom products can make it a very attractive destination. What is discouraging is that Varanasi has seen a haphazard growth. The businessmen need to re-work and focus on things for which Vns is known for.

On 26-4-15 in his speech Maan Ki baat Respected PM Mr Narendra Damodardas Modi emphasized on MAYLA MATHE PE DHONA (carrying dirt on head). The phrase was headline in each and every NEWS of the day. Is He really concern about this and made provisions of reservation in LOK SABHA, RAJYA SABHA, STATE VIDHAN SABHA, MILITARY etc etc etc ...... Such reservations are in place in other aspects of life.
Respected PM Mr NARENDRA DAMODARDAS MODI SIR do you have explanation or just a speech.

Bhadohi is the place where a large number of craftsmen and weaves live and indule in production activities. Sadly Bhadohi is not properly connected to Varanasi. Trains do not stop there and the road transport is poor. With more focus on commercial development of Bhadohi and improved connectivity from Varanasi will definitely help the craftsmen who continue to be poor and exploited. If tourists start coming for shopping then Bhadohi can help Varanasi attract even larger number of tourists.

There are huge showrooms and malls coming up in Varanasi. It is sad that the number of shops selling sarees, carpets and other handicraft/ handloom products is far less in proportion. May be reduction in taxation in such products attract more businessmen in this direction which will be directly beneficial to the craftsmen and weavers. Varanasi needs to be developed as shoppers paradise as well.

Varanasi should be developed as hub of exports of handloom/ handicraft. For this direct flights from Varanasi to Washington, Varanasi-Paris may be introduced. To begin with there could be one international flight once a week to and from Babatpur Airport. International flights will bring tourists directly to this holy city without having to touch down at Delhi or Mumbai first and then taking either connecting domestic flight or train. Besides, this will be beneficial for exporters-importers too.
