The City “Mangaluru” in Karnataka has been selected as one of the Smart Cities to be developed under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India's Smart City Mission. In order to participate in the 'City Challenge' proposal competition, Mangaluru is now required to formulate its own unique Vision and prepare the Smart City Plan in consultation with the citizens and other stakeholders.
Mangaluru City Corporation makes a Clarian call to Mangaluru’s responsible, right thinking and smart citizenry to post their valuable suggestions and recommendations to make Mangaluru a truly Smart Global City.
Your valuable suggestions would help Mangaluru to formulate a Smart City Vision, Goals and Strategy to achieve objectives.

The citizens are also requested to share their innovative and sustainable ideas and suggestions to develop Pan City Initiatives using Smart Solutions (using Information and Communication Technology) in areas of Core Infrastructure (as defined in the Smart City Mission Statement & Guidelines) and Area Based Developments to accelerate Economic Activities in the city.

Please provide your suggestions and feedback latest by 5th October 2015.

• Develop a clear organizational and supportive structure for the operation of the City. • Create a dependable plan to manage City debt, to reduce service reliance on General Fund revenue. • Develop measures to address and enforce the City Code, to improve community quality. • Maximize revenues through economic development efforts and evaluation of existing tax codes to ensure compliance. • Create a plan to beautify and enhance the City.

1.Usage of solar street lights. 2.Remove all the dumpyards as it stinks everywhere & pollutes the atmosphere.Public should collect their household garbage & give it to garbage collecting vehicle everyday rather than dumping it in public places. 3.Stop using polythene bags,usage must be banned.We can use cotton or any biodegradable bags. 4.We can recycle the waste water & use it for gardening. 5.Promote tourism & increase the revenue. 6.Road widening & parking facility needs to be improved.

Public Toilets and Garbage bins as much as possible at Populated and Market places. Avoid beggars and areawise cleaning work give to beggar people for salary. More Markets,Hospitals,Hotels,shops Emergency services and security in all area clean and renew all temples and beaches and all tourist attraction places

Proper waste management... Traffic management at some circles... Foot path... widening of roads .... Public transportation,hospitals to remote places...

(1) Safe City Idea a) CCTV, GPS, biometric devices in public places, offices and transportation. b) Smart tracking cards for kids. c) Smoke detectors and water sprinkler larger buildings. (2) Green, Clean and smart City a) More electric vehicles. b) Waste disposal and waste recycling plants. c) Solar devices across city for both home and industrial uses. d) LED lamps all over the city. e) Bonsay trees inside the campus. f) Smart Architectural design to save ground space for parking.

Have exclusive rail transport system connecting Ullal to milky ... conecting all the major junctions ... .have industrial hub towards the north of mangalore such that it can connect to even Udupi and have good employment rate for all the cities and town in an sound both mangalore and Udupi 3) relax the Crz rules for beaches , and have hotels and resorts houses on the coastal belt from mangalore to Manipal 4) let the night life be extended till 1am like Bangalore .

19) ensure every student passing out of colleges get employment . 20) make investment in insurance , securities , shares , mutual funds , fd mandatory . 21) the employer while distributing the salary make sure gets invested 22) make government schools modernised with all infrastructure and education system These are some of the many ideas I have which can be implemented to make a smart city
