The City “Mangaluru” in Karnataka has been selected as one of the Smart Cities to be developed under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India's Smart City Mission. In order to participate in the 'City Challenge' proposal competition, Mangaluru is now required to formulate its own unique Vision and prepare the Smart City Plan in consultation with the citizens and other stakeholders.
Mangaluru City Corporation makes a Clarian call to Mangaluru’s responsible, right thinking and smart citizenry to post their valuable suggestions and recommendations to make Mangaluru a truly Smart Global City.
Your valuable suggestions would help Mangaluru to formulate a Smart City Vision, Goals and Strategy to achieve objectives.

The citizens are also requested to share their innovative and sustainable ideas and suggestions to develop Pan City Initiatives using Smart Solutions (using Information and Communication Technology) in areas of Core Infrastructure (as defined in the Smart City Mission Statement & Guidelines) and Area Based Developments to accelerate Economic Activities in the city.

Please provide your suggestions and feedback latest by 5th October 2015.

13)approach all house , buildings, factories ,etc get the master plan off all the places 14) this will ensure us with the exact dAta of demand and supply . 15 ) the exact size of the factories for manufacturing can be established . 16 let there not be middle men .. Let the present retailers be the factory owners and supply directly to the public which inttien will be cost effective . 6) make the water supply completely purified and potable . 7) have rain water harvesting... 8) make backup power in the house go solar . 9) make every. House led zone . 10) remove all incandescent bulbs and cfl bulbs 10) supply each and every house, offices , Bussiness house , factories , with led at affordable prices 11) have each city manufXture their own essential commodities by setting up factories . ... The street electrical cabling to be looked into ... Provide good street lights ... Make the electrical poles attractive .. Place the poles in simitrical fashion .. Try and pass underground cabling wherever possible ... 2) make kerbs and proper footpath all around mangalore with interlocks . 3) make effective storm water drains . 4) have green grass wherever possible 5) never have exposed mud 5) make all the grounds , playgrounds , parks filled with grass . A smart city (also smarter city) uses digital technologies or information and communication technologies (ICT) to enhance quality and performance of urban services, to reduce costs and resource consumption, and to engage more effectively and actively with its citizens. Sectors that have been developing smart city technology include government services,transport and traffic management, energy, health care, water and waste.

Use digital displays for all kind of advertisement and displays. Strictly don't allow any kind of banners and hoardings. Standardize all the Name boards and traffic boards. Well marked roads and parking places. Control the public transport under single strict control center. Provide clean drinking water under one roof to all. Strict and approved building structures.

These are top priority things should be planned at d starting stage. Providing well furbished, cool, well equipped and clean systematic place for fish market. Tackling malaria. Place strong upright rules for handling waste and garbage. Completely control the mosquitoes. Place night vision CCTV cameras covering entire city area. Make sure that 24/7 power supply and Illuminate entire city through out the night. City should active24/7. Grow greenery at all possible piece of land, buildings

To Mangalore City Corporation, I have made a brief report on household waste segregation and Lamp recycling. Whatever I have mentioned it is just tip of the iceberg, the proposals and suggestion which I have for Mangalore city if applied without any doubt with a span of two years Mangalore Municipality can be the best in the country under solid waste management. Of course to be best lot of factors are there which I would like to discuss in person as this is not the platform for it.Thank you.

#MyGov, #SmartCity, #Mangaluru. Mangalore is coastal city well connected by all 4 means of mode of transport - Road, Air, Sea and Railways. Ideas have been posted on the following areas which has been discussed in detail in the PDF attached. Facilitie has to be improved in following areas 1. New Mangalore Port 2. Mangalore Railway Station 3. Sustainable Smart Energy/Produce 4. Tourism 5. IT Technology implementation / Entrepreneurship 6. Infrastructure / Transport 7. Education/Health hub

[refer my post below first :)] now, watering them is a task isn't it? So fix a pipe accross these plants on the footpath or whichever easy way, make a hole or two on the pipe for each plant and there you go! You don't have to hire people for watering each plant. Someone has to monitor the watering system. #SmartCity #Mangaluru #MyGov

Make Mangalore more greener. Due to extreme heat, now it's really hard to walk on the footpath or anywhere else without an umbrella. Make a little space every one meter on the footpath to plant a tree that can grow big and provide shelter for people who walk on the pavement everyday. This in a way can encourage people to walk rather than taking auto rickshaws for nearby places. I see lot of people doing this during summer.
