The City “Mangaluru” in Karnataka has been selected as one of the Smart Cities to be developed under the Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD), Government of India's Smart City Mission. In order to participate in the 'City Challenge' proposal competition, Mangaluru is now required to formulate its own unique Vision and prepare the Smart City Plan in consultation with the citizens and other stakeholders.
Mangaluru City Corporation makes a Clarian call to Mangaluru’s responsible, right thinking and smart citizenry to post their valuable suggestions and recommendations to make Mangaluru a truly Smart Global City.
Your valuable suggestions would help Mangaluru to formulate a Smart City Vision, Goals and Strategy to achieve objectives.

The citizens are also requested to share their innovative and sustainable ideas and suggestions to develop Pan City Initiatives using Smart Solutions (using Information and Communication Technology) in areas of Core Infrastructure (as defined in the Smart City Mission Statement & Guidelines) and Area Based Developments to accelerate Economic Activities in the city.

Please provide your suggestions and feedback latest by 5th October 2015.

Smart city should first contain smart people..Change the mindsets of people first..don't forget to stop anyone destroying ur city's property ..it shouldn't be always mind ur own business .actually it's your own business to keep the city clean.. stop the gutkhaa completely from the production state. And also think about the people around you.. there should be strict actions on violating traffic rules and also .. the main and the most important thing .elimination of dust through adding cork on it

It is essential to start with some planning and minimum standards on 1. Road width depending on expected population & vehicle density 2. Height of platform from the road 3. Location of storm drains, sewage pipes, water supply, gas supply connection 4. Provide ducting for Power, Telephone & cable TV lines 5. Location of Power transformers, power junction boxes, and telephone junction boxes ( preferably away from main roads) 6. Discourage shops from arterial roads.
