Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

Thudiyalur Railway station should be renovated, here railways has large acres of vacant land should be used by railway department properly for Depot or something else.The vacant land is very near from Thudiyalur bus stand and will have easy access to Mettupalayam road, since it is very closer less than a kilometre.

-Aggressive steps to control traffic congestion in the city(building flyovers/scheme roads) -Bin all around the city. -Door to. Door garbage collection. -Solar Park. -Strengthen public transport system.

-Create at least one park in all the wards in the extended areas of the corporation. -There should be at least one ladies and senior citizen Park in each of the five zones of the city corporation.

All 100 wards to have collection and transporation point Bio Methanantion plant in all 100 wards Segregation of wastes to create bio compost manure @ Vellalore dump yard

Corporation should be contributing in making our city smarter in terms of digitalization, technology, we are approaching to become hi-tech but along with all these things we should follow our traditions also.

Coimbatore's economic growth in the city (e.g. number of new jobs created, new firms attracted, increased productivity and business climate in the formal as well as informal sectors, recognition of and incorporating urban vendors), and improving the quality of life for all, especially the poor: (e.g. reduction in commuting time, support of non-motorized transport, improvement in air and water quality/increased coverage of water, solid waste management, street lighting.. etc

Coimbatore Corporation should Give an identity to the city based on its main economic activity, such as local cuisine, health, education, arts and craft, culture, sports goods, furniture, hosiery, textile, dairy...

Coimbatore Should Concentrate in Preserving and developing open spaces parks, playgrounds, and recreational spaces in order to enhance the quality of life of citizens, reduce the urban heat effects in Areas and generally promote eco-balance

Coimbatore Should Concentrate in reducing congestion, air pollution and resource depletion, boost local economy, promote interactions and ensure security. The road network is created or refurbished not only for vehicles and public transport, but also for pedestrians and cyclists, and necessary administrative services are offered within walking or cycling distance

New areas (greenfield) will be developed around city in order to accommodate the expanding population in urban areas. Application of Smart Solutions will enable cities to use technology, information and data to improve infrastructure and services. Comprehensive development in this way will improve quality of life, create employment and enhance incomes for all,
