Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

5. have more number of hospitals spread out for the city in various areas than increasing the number of beds in a single hospital. this will only increase congestion of all forms.

4. Have more places for public convenience with proper disposal of waste, for complete eradication of open air defecation. specially at bus stands. this will stop spread of disease.

3. Make it compulsory for all builders to have solar power, and solar heating on their new constructions. also include waste water and sewage management by introducing zero waste from buildings. waste water for usage in green spaces.

2. Space under tall built up water tanks could be used for parking of vehicles with a help of a hoist. create specific areas for paid parking. public transport should have priority over private transport. minimum occupants in vehicles should be avoided. fuel efficient CNG gas Autos are the answer for pollution free traffic. convert all public transport to CNG.

1. Arrange to have proper pavements for the pedestrian to walk. India is a country where 95% of the public are pedestrians and they have more right to commute than the people in vehicles. have wide pavements without obstructions by pavement sellers and vendors. Parking of vehicles is not a priority, and roads are there for movement of traffic and not for parking. Once vehicles are not allowed to park on road sided, roads will be free for movement of traffic,and congestion free.

1.avoiding traffic congession in major areas like ukkadam, townhall, avanashi road, gandhipuram, singanallur, 2. streamling parking for two wheelers, three wheelers and 4 wheelers 3. underground eb, 4. to remove unnecessary encrochments 5. 24 x 7 water supply with installed meter 6. underground drainage 7. need fly over 8. need good big park 9. cleaning of all area has to regularly monitored and educate people about cleaness 10.Property and water tax to be collected without arrears
