Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

Strict enforcement of traffic laws with state of the art of the equipment including cameras, more and optimal allocation of patrol units. Traffic signals should be optimised and operated 24x7 for avoid any traffic congestion.

No long distance buses inside the city. Separate bus terminus like the ones currently under operation can be connected with non stop mini bus service. Also replace all the old big city buses with more fuel efficient mini buses. High speed train system to connect the city with Pollachi, mtp, tirupur , sathy , erode, Salem, karur

Any shopping (malls) or business premises should contain enough free parking space to avoid people parking the vehicle streets

1. Elevated road on Avinashi road from current flyover to sitra and airport. This will open up some road space for parking under the flyover. Similar system can be followed for trichy road from Sungam to ondipudur. And then sathish road mtp road. These elevated road system can be connected to interior artery road network coupled with outer ring road system.

1) Develop a Four lane Ring road connecting Avinasi Road Sathy Road,Mettupalayam Road,Perur Road ,Palghat Road. 2)Underground Drainage 3)Drinking water on a daily basis 4)Conversion over head cable lines to underground Transmission 5) Flyovers at important junctions on Mettupalayam Road Avinashi Road Trichy Road 5) one more entry to decongest Atthupalam 6)Expansion of road at Ganapathy to ensure ease of traffic 7) No sanction for renovation or new building without Proper provision parkin

Public Mass Transport system should be implemented. Local trains connecting Coimbatore and Tiruppur and other nearby areas could help avoid a lot of traffic on road.

i am oppose the plastics. Usage of above 40 microns is good for earth. but I have doubt for example all item for buying shirt its covered with plastic (is this good or bad 👎 for earth).same wise think we surround with plastic not trees.biscuit 🍪 covered with plastic(is this above 40 microns).

6. Connect Coimbatore to the surrounding cities such as Tirupur, Pollachi, Palghat, by electric trains EMU, so that less number of travelers will be using the Road transport. By doing this less no of people will be killed on these roads. we know that the bus transport lobby is very strong and they have managed to kill annually over 1000 passengers in their buses.
