Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

1. Need multi layer over bridges with green corridor to connect the main (6) roads & points to take care of next 25 years. 2. Need to plant multiple trees in proper place in & around the city to bring back our own climate. 3. Need metro trains to travel upto our neighbor districts. 4. Need International Airport with real international standards. 5. Need proper planing & schedule before starting any public works to avoid time & money. 6. Need public entertainment natural park in the city.

1. City traffic should be controlled 2. There should be good coordination with the government departments 3. All the roads must have a proper drainage system as well as rainwater harvesting system 4. Ban of plastic bags 5. Use of dustbin should be regularised. 6. all the government office should be digitalized and brought under single roof.

Elevated bus stands can be built instead of shifting the bus stands to the remote areas!! 1)can spare some space from central prison and can build a spacious bus stand, with town buses on first floor, service, mofosils on second floor and setc on third floor. 2)most of the space can be saved, even rush! 3) current mofosil and setc bus stands can be used for multilevel parking 🅿 4) no need of shifting the busstand bcoz the flyovers r in progress,ready to give a rough plan,#coimbatore#smartcity

There should be real transparency in implementing the projects. Ideas and suggestions should be prioritised based on different parameters with long term vision. Good ideas should never be ignored for lack of funding. We could augment govt funding with crowd funding. Also public can contribute by different means by volunteering for the success of the project

Maintain garbage disposal bins in all public places and clearing them regularly . make a digital alert system when garbage bin is full. So that corporation can get it emptied.
