Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

1. As Coimbatore is very famous for the climate, Government should take steps and make more awareness to public on plant more trees in the city to bring back the cool climate. 2. Please extend the city limit 3. We should improve roads and introduce metro train in order to make smooth transportation as population is increasing day to day in the city 4. Make awareness among public to maintain city clean 5. Should give priority on IT and other infrastructurs without affect environment.

e. Designated parking areas at important shopping areas like cross cut road, 100ft road, town hall, etc., / multilevel parking arrangements with clear online display boards at important traffic signals to notify the availability of parking slots in the designated areas

B. Complete e governance system : Bill payments, getting documents like certificates, approvals, etc., thro complete online system... Now the system is exist, but not with full options. This help to reduce time for the public and enhance govt. data base Online complaint cell, to enable public to get the grievances quickly C. Refreshment area : Parks / play area can be improved to enhance public utilization & health d. Underground electrical wiring system for all streets

A. Roads : Main roads like Sathy road, MTP road, Avinashi road, etc., should have separate lane for bi-cycle & walkers. (Germany has such infrastructure with different color pavers) Bus stop should be made in a separate lane, to enhance discipline Signal free road infrastructure by appropriate over bridges, track changes, supports reducing the traffic density Fuel limits / car / month can be enforced to reduce vehicle density (This system is in place at Tehran, Iran)

1. The city should have at least one globally recognizable landmark. 2. The initiative should look beyond CCMC limits. There is an opportunity to integrate many of the natural wealth in surrounding areas to create an ecologically sustainable showpiece. 3. At least one globally acclaimed event should be conducted in the city every year. Such events give tremendous boost to tourism and brand image. 4. Minimal carbon footprint on the landscape. Aim to be carbon-neutral.

Pollution level has to be brought down by planting more tress also Plastic usage must be minimized. Ring roads must be developed to minimize the city inner traffic. Water tanks around Coimbatore must be deepened or widened to save rain water and to get ground water. For waste disposal,Power generation plant must be installed and the solid waste must be used as a fuel.Building roof tops of Govt.,colleges,Hospitals,commercial establishments and houses should have solar Panels to get Electricity.

Overbridges to be constructed in traffic congested areas within a short span of time Airport needs expansion Need Metro facility More funding from the government to improve the infrastructure facilities. Bring in Public sector companies

Hello all,, first all the roads have to be laid fresh and long lasting.No unevenness in roads shd be there.Some areas like S.B.Colony are having bad roads for years and years.Trash bins occupy the road.Designated corners shd be used for trash bins.

smart cards should be used for public transport. One smart card should work for all kinds of public transport like bus, train etc. this will enable government reduce their print and infrastructure costs and it is an one time investment which makes longterm savings.
