Coimbatore City Municipal Corporation has been selected through a competitive process for SMART City Mission initiative of Government of India. In the next phase, Coimbatore city has to compete with 98 other cities from across the country to make it into the Top 20 cities which will be taken up for the first round of funding, for the financial year 2015-16.

Citizens and stakeholders of Coimbatore are requested to post their views and suggestions on how to make Coimbatore a Smart one. The citizens may organize their thoughts on the following topics

1. What should be the Vision of the Coimbatore
2. Strengths, areas of improvement & solutions across the following sectors

a. City Spatial Structure, Transportation and Green Spaces
b. Energy, Water, Waste Water and Environment
c. Housing, Health, Education, Security, Law and Order
d. Citizen Engagement, Smart Solutions and IT-led service delivery

1. Build good plastic mixed roads that withstand rain with proper patterns for drainage, water pipes and communication cables to avoid repeatedly digging up the roads. 2. To help relieve traffic, build wide and long over bridges over the currently congested and narrow roads without cutting down the trees. 3. Provide Solar powered lighting, signals in all parts of the city. 4. Implement automatic traffic monitoring and congestion relief systems.

1.Enforce ban on all plastic and polythene related items (esp. bags) which make up most of the(non degradable) waste in the city. They are harmful to public and environment.This must be done immediately as Coimbatore is near to biodiversity areas like Kerala, Ooty etc. 2.Encourage citizens to switch to cloth bags. 2. Not dig /Stop digging holes in the roads in gandhipuram market area which adds to the already existing congestion of traffic due to flyover construction.

1. New IT Companies 2. Remove most Encroachments to widen roads 3. Metro Train 4. International Airport 5. Better Engagement with MSME owners 6. More number of Mini Buses

=>Need a seperate lane for Bicycles. => make it a best space for software startups. =>collaborate the college students to get a activity done .In this case more scope for innovation. =>roads can be better connected

Seperate Roads for 2 wheelers and seperate roads for 4 wheelers. Working Traffic Signals. Trash Cans to be made available Employment and Food for Poor Trees planted wherever possible clean city and maintenance Recycling to be implemented

6.Bus stops should have seperate cutspace from the main road to avoid traffic conjestion.7.increase more signages and signals.8.agricultural lands not to be used for realestate purposes.9.encourage farmers to continue with their agricultural activities n increase the local productions to reduce the commodities cost.10.need more focus to develop small scale industries.11.common parking areas with multi level parking has to be implemented in all commercial areas n this should be pay n use system.

1. Bring in Smart Traffic Engineering. For example, in some signals there are speed breakers which only slow down the traffic. Also, most of the major roads do not have dedicated turn lanes. 2. Need separate Bus Bays in major roads where there are bus stops. Every time a town bus stops, the traffic behind it also stops. 3. Need better pedestrian facilities and pavements along all major roads. 4. Implement the Underground Drainage Project and also have better water recycling facilities

Roads to be maintained in a good manner. Traffic signals to be introduced in all the important areas. Drainage system needs to be improved

1.clean coimbatore(swatch coimbatore) should be practised in nook and corner of the city by deploying more staffs(can engage all streetside/templeside beggers in this job so that they will do work and earn).2.plant more trees.3.Flyovers have to be constructed in all road junctions to avoid traffic.4.waste management has to be done frequently and garbage bins has to be implemented for every 30 mtrs.5.Make strict rules n severe punishments for corruptions happening in all governmental processess.
