The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Mr. Prime Minister in my opinin it should be undertaken by private sector with specific inputs from government to maintain the uniformity of course in all sectors. On job training modules need to be developed to catch student at Secondary school level alongwith providing them job opportunities in specific sectors. it will be skill development in sync with job creation.

In most of the countries when govt or any private company launches any contract (i.e. infrastructure or energy) they put some condition to use local content(Project activity done inside country) up to maximum extent. But seems that such rules doesn’t exist in India or not followed during tender execution stage. Can related ministry will implement this for on-going or upcoming projects? Implement of this will surely help to realize "Make in India" concept

anything which can bump up costs need to be taken up by public investment - if private parties do it, they will do it at a profit and will recover high real estate costs - these will be added to the fee structure and recovery will be expensive

Mr. Prime Minister, skill development exercises in mining sector should be compartmentalized owing to the infrastructure which public sector may provide and the other that private sector may provide. We need to ensure that development has to be with effective participation of people and it is only this way that we can make every sector in India to gain desired growth.

With proposed e-auction of mines to the identified sectors & with availability of advanced technology in the Mining & Mining Equipment sector the skill requirement is essentially improving of productivity with the use of advanced technology machines & tools. It should be left to the private sector and the mine owners will encourage the right talent to bring efficiency of utilization of the natural resource by on the job training to those employed in the sector.Govt can supplement when need arise
