The country is well endowed with many metallic and non-metallic mineral resources.  India is a leading player in respect of many non fuel minerals including, iron ore, bauxite, dolomite, lime stone and mica.  Mining sector (non-fuel) currently accounts for approx 0.5% of GDP.  For accelerated economic growth on sustainable basis, this sector has to grow at a much faster pace to secure   a higher percentage in the GDP.

Scientific, sustainable and transparent mining practices require well trained manpower.  Skill development not only enhances productivity and safety at work place, but more importantly, it prepares the manpower to adapt to the new state of art technologies. Currently this sector employs around 0.2 Million workforce which is estimated to grow to 0.3 Million in next 10 years.

Every person has his own capability. There should be an evaluation of all based on his/her hidden talent/potential and he be trained in that field.

It should be undertaken by private sector, but work with the governments rulings. Only government can allocate priorities and the benefits will be shared by the people of the country according to the need. The private entity should be monitored and the unnecessary cries of the inable politicians who can only criticise and condemn should be ignored and insulted. Private management will always think of improvement independently but the government has to every time seek to ally with others.

Dear Sir, It should be a Public Private Patnership responsibilty not only the private authorities know very well as to how, when, what is to be done at the shop floor level they also know the way it has to be done. The finance required for skill development training can also be provided by private firms as for the public part they can act as yardstick to see whether the people are adequately skilled or not but yes the system to be transparent with regular audits by both private & public people
