The role of institutions of higher education in societal development is becoming increasing significant. In recent years, higher education has isolated itself from the society and there is a need to re-establish and strengthen higher education’s close linkages with the society. How can Universities foster social responsibility and engage in community outreach programmes. Sharing some working examples would also be a useful input.

Lean Thinking is a structured and effective way to build effectiveness in all our actions. Imbibing and implementing concepts of 'Value from customer's perspective', 'waste elimination', 'Flow' and 'Continuous improvement' are such that make one empowered, responsible and citizen who contributes and conserves. Can we teach Lean Thinking to students from 8th std onwards?' This can change the next generation into better citizens and benefit India in the long run!

OUR EDUCATIONAL SYSTEM IS MAINLY FOCUSED ON THE BRIEF PERIOD OF THE FEW HOURS BY WHICH THE STUDENT'S CAREER IS JUDGED.ACTUALLY IT IS A DRAWBACK, RATHER THAN FOCUSING ON ONLY FINAL EXAM, THE FINAL MARKS SHOULD BE AN AVERAGE OF THE PERIODIC EXAMS SO THAT IF ONE FACES SOME HURDLE DURING ONE OF THEM ,HE/SHE CAN TRY GIVING GREATER EFFORTS FOR THE NEXT. FOCUS HAS TO BE GIVEN ON FIELD AND OUT OF BOOK EXPERIENCES, ALONG WITH DEDICATED PERIOD FOR PATRIOTISM DURING EARLY LEARNING PERIOD FOR SPIRTUAL DEVP.

many times in private colleges salary is not given as good as compare to gov colleges even though private colleges earn more money compare to gov colleges. so there should be some rules and regulation related to salary structure in private colleges so that faculty can take interest in research work and growth other wise they move away from main goal and try other ideas for earning more money and they forget the main goal of education

Higher education up to graduation level (with diverse courses of study) has to be made compulsory to all the youth of India based on their aptitudes and interests and society's needs such that they derive handsome livelihood and become human resource of India and abroad. Provision of post graduate education should be offered only to highly meritorious graduates who could be finding solutions to the problems of society along with their livelihood by participating in research and development.

True history should be revealed. For example we have great architecture in our temples and none of the syllabus talks about history and great technology behind these. This is just example we have many like them for example Ayurveda or vedic maths. All such lessons in schools make kids proud of their country Ultimately brain drain would be stopped.

Higher education should be available in Indian languages. Otherwise it becomes unfair towards those who have done their schooling in local languages. They go to college and find it hard to cope with the change in language and are prone to drop out.

Private non-grant teacher education colleges which are running since 27 years ,not getting students now.there are only 30 colleges in Maharashtra. Govt.admits proposal but not doing anything. We teachers of that colleges suffering a lot due to not getting salary since 27 months. Only sucide is the way to sort out this major problem in our views. Central govt. specially HRD ministry look into the problem in detail to order state govt. directly. But this ministry is not doing anything.

Contd. from yesterday"s message:Presently most of the time there are square pegs in round holes. This must be avoided.Higher education should be made FREE for the talented in the stream best fitted for them,as per Aptitude Test.Instead of 1there should be 3 apptitude test to find out the best stream one is suited.Exhorbitent amounts are being charged and education is becoming status syumbol. This must be avoided at every cost.Agriculture is the base of our economy so more students adv stdies.
