The role of institutions of higher education in societal development is becoming increasing significant. In recent years, higher education has isolated itself from the society and there is a need to re-establish and strengthen higher education’s close linkages with the society. How can Universities foster social responsibility and engage in community outreach programmes. Sharing some working examples would also be a useful input.

More focused should be given on value education like in our ancient education system. Think global and act local should be the plan. Creative training that generate like skills and Peace Education should be a part of the syllabus. For creative training innovative ideas should be invited form professionals (some of them like me already are doing it in small scale and have a road map ready to roll). Peace Education is a must in school, and introduced as compulsory subject - few hours a week.

Sanskrit should be introduced as a mandatory language from class 3 to class 12 (HSC board) same as Hindi and English, so that the new generation is able and encouraged to study the Vedas and Upanishads which is much more profound knowledge and science than the current British form of education that is prevailing since the British ruled India.

Schools should be converted back to Gurukul Style. Where more marks should be on doing related to the theory. Like example.. write your own poetry apart from reading from the course book. Weightage of marks should be more wiritng a poem then remembering. Similarrly more marks should be awarded for doing experiments than writing law on examinatin paper. in short more weightage of marks in doing/creating should be more than replicating the whats there in the course book( ofcourse course requir

does not exist a concept known as STAKEHOLDERS. We dont have a single university in INDIA, which hosts open source projects. Hang the current guys running the education system, and bring a whole team from abroad at your end. At village level upto primary, FATHER AND SON goes to the same school. Hang the person who wrote the above lines, let him travel to village without any IAS and IPS officer accompanying him. In short Bureaucracy has lied a lot and needs to be stopped. Education should be free

A child depends on parent to provide education. A parent in Mumbai, a parent in village 40 kms away from Mumbai. The situation is different. 1. THE CHILD SHOULD HAVE AN OPTION TO SELECT WHAT HE WANTS TO LEARN. I was not able to take education, as there was Reservation. I want to learn at the place nearest to me. I enrolled in Mumbai University, Distance Education Programme. Again I was begging for education and so called fucking degree. Forget Holistic and other stake holders. In education ther

Our father of nation Gandhiji has told that students are have to study about what are sorrunding of them, me also say that there would be link between higher studies and social needs or social expectations of the world or atleast of our nation. And we have to improve our quality of Education.Yet we have challange in giving education to all child, we would not compromise with quality and creative education. Ancient indians were proved more talents and inventions and discoveries why not us?

Multiple education boards ICSC, CBSE, etcshould be replaced by a single uniform board. No. of subjects offered can be increased to accommodate state interests. Also, it must be compulsory to choose 1 special subject for skill development & overall growth...e.g. science students to undertake a compulsory art subject (music, art, etc) while an art student should study science / technology subject. This will ensure overall personality development in schools which otherwise becomes parents problem
