Kalyan-Dombivli is one of the 98 cities shortlisted to be developed as a ‘Smart City’ under the Smart Cities Mission of the Government of India. Kalyan Dombivli is in the process of revising the smart city proposal to participate in the Round-2 of Smart City Challenge.

KDMC appreciates the continuous support from citizens in the preparation of the plan. Further, the corporation invites the views and suggestions of the citizens on the draft proposal prepared for Kalyan-Dombivli. Kalyan Dombivli city is facing the problem of huge traffic congestion. To solve this problem the Municipal Corporation should focus on road widening, establishing parking plazas, decentralization of commercial establishments.

There are lot of things that needs to be taken care: 1 Proper Traffic Management System.(Signals and One-Ways and system to ensure that it is being followed by all). 2 Flyovers at important Junctions. 3 Area around kalyan station should be first priority. 4 Controlling Auto Drivers.Currently we don't have Prepaid autos at kalyan station.All autos should run on meter basis. 5 Increasing the number of KDMT buses and frequencies to be increased in busiest routes.
