The National Commission for Women, a Statutory Body set up in January 1992 under the National Commission for Women Act, 1990 has the mandate to safeguard the constitutional and statutory rights of women. The Commission initiates program which aids empowerment and holistic development of women so that they are capable to gain access to opportunities and make their own decisions.

International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women was launched in 2000 by the U.N General Assembly. It is observed annually on November 25th. International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women seeks to raise awareness about violence against women. This day aims to eliminate violence by removing stigma and encouraging women to speak out against abusers. This day defines violence against women as any act of gender-based violence that results in or is likely to result in, physical, sexual, or psychological harm to women. The goal of this day is to achieve equality, development, and peace. It aims toward the fulfillment of women's and girls’ human rights.

In pursuance of its mandate and in order to achieve the goal of ‘Elimination of Violence against Women', the Commission invites inputs, suggestions, and feedback from all stakeholders through MyGov Portal, with a focus on Breaking the Silence against Gender Violence. The aim of the programme is to promote equality, development, and peace among the masses.

The last date to receive suggestions/input is 24th December 2021.

Nowadays every woman is having an Android phones. There should be a new app for women in the phone. If they touch the app or icon, then the emergency help message will be sent to the local police station with the current location for immediate action. The culprits should be given severe punishment within a short time.

To my mind one idea coming to stop violance against women is very simple and practically doable. We must Make compulsory in all private or government schools Martial arts/self defence classes weekly once for all girls from class 5th to 10th.Once every girl is made to know self defense then definitely they can protect themselves in any situation.Total 52 classes in a year x 5 years is enough for them to learn self defence.Same way boys to learn cooking and other skills in The same period when girls are learning self defence.already appointed sports teacher's can be given training on Martial arts of any form. Prevention is better than cure. If you like my idea then kindly share it and promote it. It's my humble request.

Elimination of violence can only happen if the mindset of patriarchy in society is changed. This can happen only through education and awareness. Along with a focus on bringing this awareness in women that they are equal to men, it is very important to handle all incidents of violence with strict punishment. This alone can be a big deterrent for increasing violence as changing the generations' old mindset of treating women as 2nd gender will take time. Till the time equality of genders doesn't come, fear of strict action can only help reduce violence against women. Today, anything which leaves a woman more than half dead is only considered violence and some action is seen in some such cases. For, all other acts of violence a woman has to struggle even to get it registered, forget about any action. And, this I am stating - being a woman who has experienced this.

women have been facing suppression since time immemorial, it is the biggest setback for the progression of our country towards development. It's the biggest threat to the development of our nation. The girl child should to taught to raise her voice against oppression and speak up for justice. they should be taught in schools and educational institutions about it and they should enlighten the girl child about the problems and how to face them. solution: they must be taught how to defend themselves and taught self-defense at the school level itself. they should be treated equally. the male children must be taught to respect a girl child and treat them equally right from a young age.

First of all registration of crime should be over the phone and registration id should be sent through SMS, crime goes unreported as officers simply don't register it and closure of case should have the option to rate it back.
