India is one of the leaders in sustainable development and clean energy. With the Hon PM Narendra Modi-led government’s reform-oriented, environment-friendly policies, the country has time & again shown that sound environmental policies can pave the way to a sound economy.

At the UN Climate Change Conference COP26 in 2021, PM Shri Narendra Modi announced the ‘LiFE’, a mission to bring individual behavioural change at the forefront of the global climate action narrative. LIFE or Lifestyle for Environment along with the ‘Pro Planet People’ movement, aims to strengthen the efforts to overcome climate change.

LiFE will replace the prevailing 'use-and-throw’ thinking with an environmentally conscious lifestyle. The Mission is to create a global community of ‘Pro-Planet People’ (P3), who with their shared commitment will adopt and promote environmentally friendly lifestyles.

Individual Efforts Are Key to Climate Commitment

India's traditional knowledge strongly positions it to lead the narrative of addressing climate change. Like many other mass movements, LiFE aims to inspire climate action based on the mantra of ‘Sabka Sath, Sabka Vikas’.

MyGov invites you to share your ideas and suggestions on how to adapt to an environmentally conscious lifestyle.

1. Reduce
2. Reuse
3. Recycle
4. Renewable
5. Recover
6. Re-design
7. Re-manufacture

Few examples for the above:
Reduce - Electricity, Fuel Usage
Reuse - Old Clothes, Electronics, Building materials, furniture
Recycle - Plastic, newspapers, cartons, boxes
Renewable - Solar, Wind, Hydro, Tidal, Geothermal & Biomass
Recover - Forests, rivers, soil, mountains, wildlife
Redesign - Green buildings
Remanufacture - E-waste for new purposes

Our civilisational values have taught us the importance of living in harmony with nature. Today, let’s come together to protect our environment & take forward Mission LiFE - Lifestyle for Environment.

Dear Honorable Prime Minister Shri Modi Ji, Namasthe. I would like to convey this suggestion. In all major cities and towns a center to collect the items which can be recycled. Public can deposit their unwanted items like electronic gadgets, paper wastes, plastic wastes and glass bottles. Reward points can be given to each kilogram of recyclable wastes deposited. These Reward Points can be redeemed in the form of buying some bio degradable items or food items. One can choose their preferred items and order them. This will reduce the wastes being discarded on the streets and dust bins. Based on the value of the wastes deposited Points should be given equavalent money. Cotton bedsheets, pillows and other cottage industries items like honey, toys can be redeemed. This initiative will help many people in cottage industries. Even rag pickers can get benefitted. No cash. They can redeem the Points with any item. Please try to implement this idea which will help many people. Jai Hind 🇮🇳

Honorable Prime Minister sir, In order to have a sustainable environment, we should shift our focus to renewable energy sources. Solar Energy, Wind Energy are efficient sources which would contribute to Sustainable Environment. Govt. is supporting solar energy for domestic purposes. Even small scale wind mill can be installed for domestic purpose and for which our Govt led by Honorable PM Shri.Narendra Modi ji shall support by providing subsidies.

we should put more focus on recyclable products like aluminium foil, aluminium cans etc ehich can be recycled or glass and even after centre government banning single use plastic how come the fmcg companies still using it, please tell them to move to other products for packaging which can be recycled. I stay in Sonipat, Haryana where the centre government orders are not implemented properly and as per DC, to make people happy he has allowed to use certain micron plastic, i just don't know if at all we like to change or not...

Respected Sir A few years back I saw an advertisement on tv where actors were making fun of middle class mentality of reusing old clothes.I just wondered if they had not used them in their houses in one way or the other. I do reuse old clothes. I cut open old socks and get those stitched to clean my dining table.I find them better than the microfibre cloths I buy online for cleaning the kitchen platform, furniture and electronic gadgets. My colleagues create beautiful dresses and cushion covers from their slightly torn sarees. In my childhood I had seen my maternal and paternal grandmothers making wicks out of white dhotis and sarees. Beautiful kanthas are made for both old and young out of old clothes. And also eco-friendly dolls for young girls. How can I forget the day when we tore father's new Shantipuri dhoti to make dolls and the punishment we got from mother! My husband and I donate alot of old clothes. But one thing I never forget to do.Wash those clothes and get those pressed.
