Accessibility should not be treated as an afterthought but as the foundation of product design. These standards have the potential to turn inclusivity into innovation, where every product is not just usable for persons with disabilities but universally appealing for all. Let’s aim for a future where accessibility is not a compliance checkbox, but a creative challenge every designer is proud to solve.

1.All forms of disabilities, visual, auditory, mobility, and even cognitive should be embraced by the standards.
2.Accessibility should be an integral part of the design stage there should be no consideration of design as an afterthought.
3.Accessibility processes for features should be tested, and such processes should not be costly for small and medium manufactures.
4.Access compliance certification should be embraced as a voluntary program to motivate further compliance.
5.Offer incentives such as Tax benefits and recognition awards, for companies that go beyond the minimum accessibility requirements.
6.Launch awareness campaigns that show the business benefits of accessible products.
7.Make sure the standards match global norms, like ISO standards and WCAG for digital components, so Indian products can compete in global markets.
8. Create a plan for regular reviews of the standards based on user feedback and new technology.
Thank you

This draft is a good step toward inclusion and accessibility in the product sector. Key suggestions:

Scope should be clear (cover both physical and digital products).

Involve persons with disabilities in design and follow universal design principles.

Align with international standards (ISO, WCAG, etc.).

Ensure labeling and manuals in braille, large print, audio, and e-text formats.

Provide incentives and phased implementation for SMEs.

Establish independent audits and grievance redressal mechanisms.

Train designers and manufacturers on accessibility standards.

Review and update standards periodically.

👉 Overall, the draft should be made more clear, practical, and user-centric.
