The Government of India has released the Draft Accessibility Standards for the Products Sector to ensure that every citizen, including persons with disabilities and the elderly, can access and use products with dignity and independence. Rooted in Universal Design and aligned with the RPwD Act, 2016 and India’s commitments under UNCRPD, the draft covers consumer goods, packaging, electronic devices, assistive technologies, public-use machines, and government-procured items. Key provisions include accessible labels in Braille, large print, and digital formats, standardized icons, digital compatibility with assistive technologies, and frameworks for testing, certification, and monitoring. By making accessibility a design priority, the standards promote innovation, inclusion, and market growth. The Government invites citizens, experts, industry, NGOs, and organizations to share suggestions on usability, affordability, enforcement, and training through MyGov.

The Government of India has developed the Draft Accessibility Standards for the Products Sector to promote an inclusive society where every citizen, including persons with disabilities and the elderly, can access and use products with dignity and independence. Rooted in the principle of Universal Design and aligned with the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 as well as India’s commitments under the UNCRPD, the standards aim to make accessibility a core element of product design rather than an afterthought. The draft covers a wide range of sectors, including consumer products such as appliances, packaging, and labeling; digital and electronic devices such as mobile phones, computers, and smart gadgets; assistive products; public-use items like kiosks, vending and ticketing machines; and government-procured goods. Respected Modi ji,

I would like to bring to your attention a matter of serious concern regarding passenger safety and discipline on Indian Railways. It has been observed that certain individuals, including Nihang ( sikh ) groups, often travel on trains carrying traditional weapons such as swords, and sometimes without valid tickets. When confronted by railway staff or TTEs for ticket verification, their response is often inappropriate and disrespectful.

While we respect religious practices and traditional attire, I believe that allowing sharp weapons inside passenger trains poses a potential threat to public safety. Therefore, I humbly request the authorities to kindly reconsider and implement clear guidelines or restrictions on carrying such weapons onboard trains, especially when not accompanied by valid travel documents.

Ensuring the safety and comfort of all passengers should be the top priority, and I hope necessary steps will be taken in this regard.

Thank you.

HERE ARE SOME OF IDEAS TO SELL THE PRODUCT IN MOST FUN AND INTERACTIVE WAY:
SIZE:- PRODUCT SELLS MORE WHEN THEY ARE IN DIFFERENT SIZES.FOR EXAMPLE: SELLING A FURNITURE?- MAKE A MINIATURE MODEL OF DESIGNER FURNITURE. FABRIC AND DESIGN SHOWN IN MINIATURE MODEL SHOWS CREATIVITY AND GIVE THE PERSON IDEA HOW IT WILL LOOK IN DIFFERENT AREAS. BY PLACING IT IN DIFFERENT BACKGROUND.THEN SHOWING THE PUBLIC REAL MATERIAL IN ACTUAL SIZE .

SHAPE:- SELLING A CHIPS IN SQUARE OR RECTANGULAR PACKAGING IS BORING. USING DIFFERENT SHAPES LIKE TRIANGULAR, CIRCULAR ATTRACTS MORE CUSTOMERS .

COLOUR:- USING THE BASIC COLOURS IS BORING . WIDEN THE COLOUR SPECTRUM OF PRODUCT INCLUDING PASTELS . AS THEY ARE MORE SOOTHING. SAME WAY USING BTIGHT RED FOR CHILLI IS BOMB.

REUSABLE ITY:- USING DIFFERENT RENEWABLE PACKAGING IS A FUTURE AHEAD.

MARKETING:- MAKING PEOPLE FEEL HOW THIS PRODUCT WILL FEEL IF THEY HAVE IT. WHICH IS MOSTLY THE FOCUS OF ALL THE ADDS ALREADY.

I believe it would be incredibly beneficial for our government to establish a stronger and official presence on social media 📱. A platform like X (formerly Twitter) could serve as a powerful tool for communication and public engagement.

All major government ministries should have verified accounts ✅, along with key government officers and employees connected to those ministries. This would ensure that official updates are shared directly, minimizing misinformation and giving citizens a reliable source of truth.

Such a system would also allow the intellectual community and the general public to express their thoughts, share feedback, and engage in constructive dialogue on important initiatives and policies. Citizens would stay informed about government programs, emergency alerts, and policy updates in real time 📢.

By embracing social media, our government could enhance transparency, strengthen accountability, and improve accessibility for all 🌐
