In the recently concluded Rio Olympics 2016, India sent its largest ever Olympic contingent comprising of 118 athletes. Despite the large number of athletes, the Indian contingent managed to bag only 2 medals in the Games viz., one Silver medal in Badminton and one Bronze medal in Wrestling. Considering the size of our country it can be said that the present performance was not up to the country’s potential. Views/suggestions are invited on what specific steps need to be taken to realise full sporting potential of India in forthcoming Olympics in 2020, 2024 and 2028.

There should be national sports bulletin in news Chanel in state and national level.Time table with date and hours of play of all games in which India is participating should be broadcast on day earlier in sports news.Except national news, all programs which has to be broadcast, should be deferred to show live broadcast of games in which our country is participating. This level of promotion will make all games famous in our country. Further a weekly sports magazine broadcast in news Chanel.

I am not expert in sports but in my views there should be some schools or institutions specifically for sports which will take care of student in all expect like education, nutrition food, health facilities and most important in sports. I am not talking about normal school where our mostly concentration is in stdy only. We need top soprts schoools like iit nd nits.

In long run we have to first check proper uses of resources used at state levels in games. At school levels, school authority does not know how to use sports period as they prefer to use last period as sport periods and then all classes are allowed to go home and schools are closed for the day.A sensitization of parents are needed by making compulsory for each school to mention performance of children in yearly result card in his/her favorites games.Parents will take game as one of subject.

The secondary and higher secondary school educational system in the country is not giving enough importance to sports and various other career options for the students. By the time a student completes school education, they should be made aware of all the possible career options they have. School education should also help them determine their passion whether it is sports, music, literature, photography or anything and everything teaching them how to build their career in their passion.

Further six monthly audit of training by measuring improvement of each selected sportsmen should be must. This approach will help India to improve gold medal chances in short run. In long run we have to first check proper uses of resources used at state levels in games. At school levels school authority does not know...

The best of natural sports talent resides in rural pockets of our country. For eg- swimming, running etc is intergral to large parts of rural India... thereby looking into India's rural areas adn building specific clusters of specific game, sport therein which is specific to the region, for eg- football in North east, kabbadi in rural pockets of Punjab etc will provide India opportunity and scope to exploit and develop its sport potential

to improve the performance in sports first step that should be taken is make sports as an integral part of school syllabus with equal weightage as other subjects. also, students who are showing inclination towards sports they should be encouraged and study burden on them should be reduced or even totally freed. the sportsperson should be given good financial asuarance- this is very necessary in a country like India, they need to support families.

It's high time that our nation must aim to get good coaches & selected school level students for vigorous training for years together till they become globally competitive enough to win medals. This most st be taken up at all States by setting up training centres, which are now eqialent to nil. Besides providing enough fund for students & couches so that they can be free from any sort of worries & completely concentrate on games of all areas with particular reference to individual games.
