Smart Health has to be designed keeping in mind to improve the health and wellness of our citizens. Smart Health should be able to provides comprehensive medical coverage including medical screenings, providing health care assistance and monitor various vital parameters of patients like subtle changes in pulse, respiration, heart condition, temperature and preventive warning on early onset of pneumonia (in small children) or other life-threatening problems, inside hospitals and at remote patient location including old people's home and ambulance.

What’s more in Smart Health?

• Connect any wearable or portable device to the cloud, pull and analyse collected patient data in real time
• Monitor patients at home using live video and audio streaming
• Monitor vital health indicators collected by portable devices such as smart phones and tablets
• Set intelligent emergency notifications sent to a physician or family
• Charts and diagram visualization based on data collected from health monitoring devices

We need innovative ideas on the following parameters which can be applied to IoT of Smart Healthcare Systems:-

• Inclusion of rural population in the system
• Creating awareness and acceptability of the Smart health
• Identify challenges in implementation

Your suggestions on the above topics will help us to make an integrated view and plan of action for Smart Healthcare system.

Indians see Govt. health projects as a matter of formality and have negation. They do not approach to it except the people below poverty line. Like Polio, each every health project should be reached door to door at least in rural areas. It will definitely result into 'Real Smart Health'.

I request that a Whatsapp service be initiated to advice our citizens about healthy food for various categories like, children, diabetic, old, suffering from specific diseases etc. based on where they normally live., easy availability and ease in preparation. This would help people eat healthy and don't have to think too much about what is right for them. Women struggle a lot deciding what needs to be cooked. Experts can help millions on this basis leading India to healthy eating.

As smart health initiative, rural PHCs can be provided with Ecg machines that are linked to smart phones. The ECG readings can then be directly transfered to the nearest tertiary care centre for assessment and experts can provide immediate and valuable advice on further management.

Pregnant women are routinely screened for diseases like Hiv and Thalassaemia screening can be added. Once the carrier are identified the disease can be substantially controlled as is the case in western countries.

We must shift focus to prevention of disease. This will need political motivation. As an initiative for eg on upcoming World Thalassaemia Day on May 8 a resolution to screen all pregnant women for Thalassaemia be carried out. There are 2% of Indians born as carrier of Thalassaemia gene. If both parents are affected the child can have serious condition called Thal major. These children need monthly blood transfusion for life from age 1 year apart from medicines. Most die at 15-25 years.

WONDER MEDICINE : KEEPS ANTIBIOTICS AWAY! Bio- meds ...a set of just 12 medicines...helped us ( a family of 7 including octogenarian mother) to remain healthy without the need of antibiotics for last 27 years! It is a part of homeo group ...works on balancing inorganic salts in human body ...to help it in self healing. Every dose..like homeopathy ..has a miniscule quantity of required salt. This set, costing about Rs 700/-total, can be used by any family...provided they buy a book !
