The enormity of the situation brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic invites – or rather forces – a reflection on the nature and effectiveness of our systems of governance. And not just of health systems, but more broadly the governance of issues in a Pandemic.

Governance, is frequently used to refer to certain positive attributes organizations and institutions (often public institutions) should incorporate. These attributes include some concepts such as:
• Transparency
• Accountability
• Control of corruption
• Efficiency
• Inclusiveness
• Rule of law

This manner of understanding governance, often also referred to as “good governance”, suggests that effective governance is about setting rules and incentives such as enforceable orders, directives or recommendations. Through these, the behaviours of a substantial number of individuals in the group of interest are steered in a direction that is conducive to achieving collective goals.
In the current situation with the on-going COVID-19 pandemic, the central governance issues have been facing a number of challenges. The coronavirus pandemic is here and its effects on lives are still unimaginable. It has opened eyes to the limitations we have to generate effective governance in the face of a public health crisis.

To address the challenges, the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances have operationalized the ‘Idea-Box’ for receiving Ideas and Suggestions on the topic “Good Governance Practice in a Pandemic” with effect from 02.11.2020.

You can share your submissions only in PDF format.

The Department looks forward to your ideas and suggestions on “Good Governance Practice in a Pandemic” in the Idea-Box hosted here.

Women can bring constructive, creative and sustainable solutions to the table. Women participation in economic programmes needs to be augmented for in women we get expendable providers, educators, caretakers and leaders.

Ideas and suggestions on "Good Governance practice in a pandemic"- 1.Practise makes anything perfect -If we have trained to live a healthy life in general most of our upcoming generation would have a good immune system. So giving importance to climate change and economic growth would make a country more responsible and sensible at the same time. 2.If Governance helps to act in the best interests like encouraging and especially appreciate each citizen to keep their surrounding clean and smooth

Respected Modiji, I bring to your kind attention that India banks are still demanding customers those having savings bank accounts to maintain minimum cash balance, any violation then pay charges. Citizens face difficult to approach bank in rush hours for enquiry, neglect cause money loss.I request you goodself to start urgently a common software Application allowing citizens to decide via online their bank account whether to continue with minimum balance or not, discontinue the bank account.

The quality of democracy and the commitment and caliber of public servants both in the executive and in the judiciary would determine the outcome of the country’s performance in key areas – empowerment, employment and effective delivery of services.

One third of seats in Assemblies and Parliament should be reserved for women. • Persons charge sheeted by a competent court for heinous offences and corrupt practices should be debarred from contesting elections.
