As the Indian population continues to grow there will be an immense competition for natural resources while achieving food, nutritional, environmental and livelihood security in the country. In addition, the negative consequences of climate change become more evident in agriculture with exploitation of natural resources, decline in soil fertility, ground water levels to meet the ever increasing demands for food and nutritional requirements. To maintain sustainable balance between natural resources and the demand, immediate attention is needed in several areas viz., imbalanced use of fertilizers, declining soil organic carbon, lowering of water table, soil health, organic farming and climate change impact in agriculture sector.

Recent studies on soil biodiversity, rapid composting techniques, use of bio-filters for removal of heavy metals from compost, application of Nano sensors in agriculture to improve nutrient use efficiency, need based fortification of micro nutrients; availability of soil health card, conservation agriculture for enhancing soil health etc. will support sustainable management of natural resources in agriculture.

With a particular focus on scientific and technical understanding of natural resources management, this portal tries to incorporate stakeholders suggestions in achieving sustainable natural resources management.

We need to invest tons of money on research and development in all industries including agriculture. First thing we need to adopt green an clean technology by phasing out fossil fuel like coal, petrol, diesel , natural gas as they are adversely affecting climate thus having heavy toll on agricultural production. We need to invest heavily in rural areas in the field of infrastructure, internet penetration and doing away with middle men. We need to encourage rural employment by stopping exodus.

For water, our country is totally dependent on rain. very few rivers are having continuous water supply through out the years. results shortage of water. It is observed that during rainy season ,about 75 -90 % of rain water gets wasted without being stored or percolated in the soil, results we are wasting 100% pure water given by nature to nalla, river and then to sea. I would request PM to start regime like collecting and harvesting /storing rain water in wells, boring, ponds in India.

govt should grow trees that have revenue benefits (ex.coconut trees) along roads and unused govt lands and handover to local people or organizations to maintain them and to enjoy the benefits @very low lease rates. And facilitating marketing of tree crops.this system has three benfits1. People look after the trees with own intrest 2.it will help some people financially3.govt also gets some income
