The methodology to further strengthen the supply network of drinking water is to be chalked-out in consultation with the residents of Chandigarh. Municipal Corporation Chandigarh (MCC) is responsible for supply of quality water with sufficient water pressure throughout the day to meet their daily needs, but still there is some shadow area in which water in which water supply is problematic due to some reasons. Chandigarh Administration would ensure that all necessary steps are taken up in terms of strengthening distribution network and reduction in wastage of water etc.

National studies indicate that, on average, 14 percent of the water treated by water systems is lost to leaks. Some water systems have reported water losses exceeding 60 percent. Accounting for water and minimizing water loss are critical functions for any water utility that wants to be sustainable.

Consumers can reduce water use by installing water-efficient products or employing efficiency practices, such as turning the water off while brushing teeth or running washing machines only when they are full. Water systems can promote these actions through consumer rebate and education programs.

first of govt should encourage water harvesting, all the pipeline should be checked to avoid leakage and wastage of water, there should be more and more parks and trees so that the level of ground water will increase, chandigarh is not deficient in rain water but the thing is that there is no proper system to store water and government shoul ask newspaper to regurarly publish news encouraging people to repairs tap leakage

Water purification & supply system should be so good that there should be no need to put water purifiers at houses. Ex Japan uses stainless water pipes through out the country. Majority of the diseases are water borne and if taken care the budgetary allocation on healthcare reduces. Today tech has changed, high grade plastic derivative pipes with associated monitoring systems are available. Chandigarh to be Smart must keep this in view.

Smart water meters may be tried for industrial plots and kanal houses & not for apartments, CHB flats and small houses since it requires power which is till erratic and safety aspects is still not taken seriously. Which means any negligence can electrocute the whole house since most the water pipes are of metal. Imp to install water monitoring system on main supply with Smart meters till each block and for ind flat conv meters can be installed. Safety & power arrangement can be made for main pip
