The digital space has witnessed major transformations in the last couple of years and as per industry experts would continue to evolve itself. The latest entrant to the digital space is the Internet of Things (IoT). IoT can also be defined as interplay for software, telecom and electronic hardware industry and promises to offer tremendous opportunities for many industries.

With the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT), the number of connected sensors soon will reach trillions, working with billions of intelligent systems involving in-numerous applications will drive new consumer and business behaviour. The demand for increasingly intelligent industry solutions based on IoT will drive trillions of dollars in opportunity for IT industry and even more for the companies that take advantage of the IoT.

Department of Electronics and Information Technology,(DeiTY) has come out with a draft IOT Policy document which focuses on following objectives:

i. To create an IoT industry in India of USD 15 billion by 2020. It has been assumed that India would have a share of 5-6% of global IoT industry.

ii. To undertake capacity development (Human & Technology) for IoT specific skill-sets for domestic and international markets.

iii. To undertake Research & development for all the assisting technologies.

iv. To develop IoT products specific to Indian needs in all possible domains.

IOT ecosystem can be achieved with penetration of internet into remotest parts of country. It will allow live monitoring of different governance issues. So to initiate this revolution, remotest part of countries needs to connected with wifi,4G having uniform availability across the country.Open source technologies should be promoted in every universities and school to prepare required skillset for consuming IOT in future.GOI should start hosting competitions across dept to attract new innovations

I am building IOT platform in SAP, if you provide opportunity to showcase the value of it for predictive maintenance and remote service management. It's reduces maintenance cost significantly of expensive machines used in health care or defence sector

Key to development of digital India is hardware industry development. Chip level manufacturing to all hardware should be manufactured in India. Spectrum availability to be addressed. Intranet for all inbound traffic of our Websites should be established, why should we have outside server of all our local data. Master computer should be developed for faster data processing. High speed data is key for our development to be addressed on top priority. Data hubs in regional levels to be developed.

We have to focus on the electronics industry as the whole world is now using electronics in one or the other way. India should strongly collaborate with japan as it has great technological know-how. India has talented manpower to take that technology to new level with the help of countries like japan. India can subsequently start manufacturing electronics indigenously as it has the potential to generate jobs even more than it industry. We need to take concrete steps for the same.
