Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

Respected Sir, First thing is that government has to change all light in different govt. Organization, Second Step is that we has to give different awareness to the people for using LED benefit. How it is cost effective and different things. Third step give some emotional advertisements for power saving( Why I am saying that like LPG subsidy scheme for poor man. This type of add give great impact on urban people. Fourth thing is that States govt. Support required for this.

Public sector organisations like PWD, Defence Forces, PSUs, Railways etc must go for 100% LED only. If considered expensive, they may be allotted a separate budget or part of budget for promoting Green India norms such as LED usage. They may also be permitted one higher level financial powers if the items purchased are at least 50% for Green India including LED. If the public sector adopts this, the private sector will follow since costs and public awareness will be beneficial.
