Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

LED Use may be promoted by making people aware about its benefits as- 1.Doing ad on TV comparing E bill of two households with LED & with other lamps 2.Doing ad on TV comparing lights of LED lamp and others between two friends one reading in LED lamp & other in CFL/Incandescent lamp 3.Making mandatory use of LED to all the Gov dept. & PSUs 4.Encouraging low cost production of LED Lamps by companies 5.Doing printed ad on Railway tickets, banks, hospitals along with announcements on the same.

I have used LED bulbs of 9 watt and 18 watt. These bulbs are very useful. All street lights may be replaced by state government and central government. It also saves energy and long lasting. Govt organisations may replace in offices.

Sir, Lets brainstorm how to increase the LED usage. There are many areas and in my view being a proffessional engineer its better if we implement first in all the public sector and government based production or manufacturing units. There after we have to consider implementing the usage of LEDs in all the government hospitals and schools. In all the government offices, banks, similar to street lights. There after to give more thrust on usage in private running organisation. Regards

cost of LED bulb is very high,if you lower the cost or gives subsidy and does compulsion to every one then it can be possible.
