Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

cost of LED bulbs should be in a range which is affordable by all and this can be done either by selling LED bulbs at low cost outrightly or by subsiding the rates. Short Documentaries depicting advantages of installing LED bulbs would also help to greater extent. In initial phases incentives(like certficate of Praise) may be provided to some families who do 100% installation of LED bulbs as this would act as a motivating factor for others to also do the same.

LED lights make commercial sense. At 6 to 8 Rs. Per unit of electricity, it takes 10 hours of running a tubelight more expensive than a comparable LED light. The return in one year is 100 percent. So after one year it is money in the pocket. Which investment would deliver 100 percent return?

1.Design of the LED bulb must be in rod shape with length of 1,2 & 3 feet and bulb of 12,18 & 24 watts would be supplied tax free. 2.New street & building construction permissions must include a clause for mandatory use of LED bulbs only. 3.Retailers, Grocery shop merchants & Different outlets of garments and general stores on purchasing of products from them would include offers like on purchasing of 1000/-2000/-3000/etc give them fr 12,18 & 24 w LED bulbs free of cost. Thanks.#MyGov#LEDs

LED is a good initiative provided we can also change street lights and peruse private companies to do the changes in time bound manner - Gov can offer SoPs to promote - beside this, we can target inverter based AC, brushless motors, improve on transmission line losses, improve or remove inefficient inverters by offering continous power

prevent sale of non efficient bulbs by imposing additional taxes to make it non viable for manufacturers, give them soft loans and SOPs to switch from conventional bulbs to LED bulb manufacturing
