Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

All branded manufacturing cos. of LED bulbs should be given targets for production of different wattage of LED bulbs (between 0 watts to 14 watts LED bulbs ,more use ful are 2.5watts ,5 watts ,7 wats ,9 watts and 11 watts for domestic uses ) with some tax concessions in production and sales . The cos. should be directed to minimise production of general and CFL bulbs, lamps in 2 - 3 years. After 1 year time, heavy taxes can be imposed on production of non energy efficient bulbs, lamps .

Please do not encourage mass adoption of LEDs without taking care of a recycling program in parallel. Swatch Bharat cannot be polluted with toxic waste.

Ujala scheme is good and giving good results. In AP two bulbs were ditributed to each house holder. It is welcomed by one and all. But I have seen other bulbs are being used for lignhting of other roomsbath rooms. These bulbs should be made available in the Panchayat at subidised rates for end users then only full efect will be known to the house holder as he can view the elect.bill reduction and they will be habituated.Other bulbs are available at cheaper rates of Rs.15- each.

-stop production of other bulbs. -spread awareness about advantages of Leds over others.(posters, seminars,tv advertisement, competition.....) -use of Leds in government offices, banks and other institutions. - Give targets to companies. - Come up with schemes and offers. -

To enhance the use of led lamps, firstly the production of old incadescent bulbs should be banned. Only led based lamps production should be allowed leaving no choice for anyone to switch to led lamps. The govt has already made it affordable for d poor which can pay in installments. Hence it must be promoted widely. Led production and import should be placed in a low tax bracket as to make it more affordable to everyone. All street lights should be compulsory changed to led strertlights.

H'ble PM sir, I am deeply impressed by the UJALA scheme of central govt that would replace inefficient incandescent bulbs with environment friendly LED bulbs. However I believe that rather than responsibility of only govt it is shared responsibility of every concerned citizen to help government in this initiative. I would say that you should propose a 3LED bulb pack as gift pack. With your charismatic appeal people have left gas subsidy.if this gifting idea catches up we can meet target soon.

sir i think there should be a campaign about benefits of LED specially among villagers where people even today uses 100 or 200 Watts bulb (as i have seen in my village from Bihar) due to cheaper in price and some sample on affordable price to rural community should be distributed. Once they get benefit of it then UJALA becomes advertised by it self..

The LED is capitaal intensive in comparison to normal bulb or tube light. This should be given in installments and collcetd through electric bill in a year or so
