Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

Please make them available through popular e-commerce platforms aready available. This will increase the reach and deliverability. Consumer will bear the delivery + LED cost. Make them available in different wattage range so consumer will not have to look for another alternatives.

Namaste PM/Power/Urban/Panchayat Good work of distributing LED to save power, but main power/LPG consumption is of hot water.if i propose community hot water project power by solar/waste energy of garbage it will save alot. we can use extra for cooking.both LPG/electricity will be saved, idea of SWATCH BHARAT will be achieved. poor will be helpful who cant afford heater. 2KW*2hrs*0.6*1000*4people*30days=Rs.288000 above can be saved after a year of capital investment of Rs.10 lakhs/village

The discoms should provide LEDs for free and collect the cost over a period of time from the end user. The installment could be equal to the savings incurred due to use of high efficiency lamps. Govt can extend benefits to such discoms which does this programs like tax sops or better licences etc.

Industries and small establishments should be encouraged to use LED by facilitating them with honour to the establishment/firm/industry for use of LED for highest fraction of their light use.

To give more subsidize to making LED bulb manufacture, and put more tax on normal bulb manufacture per unit, after some days Normal bulb will be obsolete form india market ,and more LED bulb will be come to picture & this way we can encouraging to use LEDS, Few suggestion: 1>legally prohibit all imported normal bulbs 2>Encourage electricity supply board to check utilization of Led bulbs uses in home/factory at the time of taking monthly/quarterly meteor reading & collecting bills

Most poor people may not afford LED all at a time. They use general bulbs and spend more in cumulative cost. But only providing subsidized LED may not effectively work on them. Because some of them may think to resell subsidized LEDs in higher market rate to others and bring back general bulbs again. So, the plan should be linked with their electricity bills, i.e. it should be ensured that the next electricity bills/units should be less than the previous month's bills.
