Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

Mandatory use of Leds in public places like schools psu banks etc along with distribution of leds for voters and at ration shops at highly subsidized prices can do the work.

From my point of view- Every family those are giving up LPG subsidies should be provided with two LED bulbs. This might help in both, increasing LED bulbs distribution as well as giving up of LPG subsidies. #RoshanBharat

in my perception,1)the very first thing is to replace normal bulb from led's from road light, govt enterprises, govt hospitals 2) since the price is little high people go also go for normal bulbs so i think reduce the price for some time at least till it becomes popular among every one. 3)generally the companies use to give gifts in govt enterprises i think they can also give them as a gift for once in both govt and private sectors.4)availabilty isse make it possible is every next shop.

LEDs can be used for advertisements. We see a lot of printed ads that are affixed at various corners of a city. Usually, these ads make use of papers. Then there are posters and banners that use plastic. How can LED help solve the problem? Well, instead of these papers and posters, LED TVs/screens can be installed at prominent places to showcase the ads. Besides, banning/reducing the use of both paper and plastic. Electricity? Renewable resources like Solar, Wind are to the rescue.

Instead of selling against Ration card, you have to sell atleast ONE LED bulb against each Aadhar card. Price of the LED bulbs in open market has to be reduced and strict action has to be taken upon below standard LED bulbs, who are selling thru online. Awareness of using LED Bulbs has to be started at School level.. which in turn will effect positively on family members.

Increase distribution of LED via online shopping. Right now only snapdeal is selling it and even then it is not as cheap as buying from local MSEB / power company stall. You can sell it on flipkart / amazon. Lighting is heavily used in industries almost 24x7, so start distributing LED lamps for industries too which can be used instead of standard tubes / CFLs. Educate people about the benefits of LED bulbs in terms of power saving and their own personal benefit that electric bills reduce.
