Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

People still use small bulbs in House, Office.. Toilet, Bed Room, Pooja Room. They understand it is Zero watt and in shop ask for Zero Candle Bulb.(Means no power) But in reality it is between 15to25watt. This will be on through out day in PoojaRoom, Photos etc., 25watt X 2bulbs X 16Hours X 1000000 Houses (average) consumption. Please give free 0.5watt Led bulb. Power Savings happen (ROI) in six months max.

The Electricity distribution companies charge MMC even if the consumption is below a certaain limit. Our experience is that the consumption is usually below this limit if we use LEDs in the house ( except during the months when ACs are in use). This disincentivises the expense occurred on replacing the conventional lamps with LEDs. The Government should ask the Power Distribution Companies to abolish MMC and charge for only the actual units consumed.

Just as gas has been given to those in need light the houses and street lights gradually with led from bulbs and incandescent lights which are not energy efficient. Place time switches to switch on at 7 pm and off at 5 am. We also need new technology which will generate electricity based on motion kinetic energy of vehicles on roads started on experiment bases outside in day time.
