Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

As of now in karnataka, LED bulbs of only 9w are provided by the State Govt. Can you make available bulbs of lesser wattage like 6w, 3w, 2w etc? It would help people to go for a total change.

UJALA scheme is great but add option to buy LED bulb of higher watt as well because 9 W is not sufficient for HALL, Kitchen where light are used for longer duration. Companies, offices are still using CFL, tube lights on false roof.

Government start their own unit to producing led lights because of the todays existing company those producing leds thats market price is very high thats why the bottom level doesn't buy it and they buy cheapest bulb 100 wt in 10 rupees.. Government try to how we are minimum price decreases.. Basically government target rural areas because of they doesn't awareness of led lights. Government start to campaigns in rural area.. I know your target the rural market automatically govt. achive goal.

Led useage can be advertised thru the media aggressively in urban areas and in rural areas depending on useage give led bulbs free and adjust the same as a unit surcharge eg if a meter is used for 100 units and the life of the led bulb is 3years and each 100 unit useage one free bulb is given then compute cost and add to their units consumed which will be offset with consumers saving in consumption. urban areas can be suitably adjusted after the rural experience.
