Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

#MinistryofPower can give subsidy on LEDs. 1. In village go home to home and distribute, realize people that it will reduce electricity bill.2. In cities, involve corporate offices ,societies and distribute LEDs. 3. If u buy some electronic items give 1 led free.4. In gardens ,common toilets set up LEDs, same applicable in govt offices.

#LEDs I think per month 2 LED bulb should replace with the normal bulb by the state electricity board in every house and 20% cost of the bulb should add in the electricity bill. In such a case electricity bill will also be the same as earlier because when the house owner will use LED bill his monthly unit will reduce and actually he will save the electricity without paying any extra cost. After few months he will get reduce amount of bill also when his 100% bulb will replace.

small event can be organized in which by demonstarting simple mathematical calculation it can be explained as to how much leds are effective .And on the other hand, government as they are providing leds in subsidized rate they can continue with that with free distribution of leds in villages and other remote areas. also, other benefits of leds like durability/longivity/profitability etc can be explained through simple and practical examples.

Subsidy schemes work well among people. If we get some subsidy on electricity bill by replacing existing bulbs with LED then people might start using LED. Tough part is how to know if people have moved to LED. One Idea I can think of is if people can produce a bill to electricity board that they have purchased at least minimum of 5 bulbs from government recognized vendors then they could get some subsidy on electricity bill for one year. This can also boost LED business.

Encourage bulb manufactures to produce more LED bulbs. Provide income tax exemption to LED bulb manufacturers for five years. Duty free import of machinery and technology for the manufacture of more efficient LED bulbs Exempt from state and central sales taxes. Engage "save energy" ambassadors to promote LED bulbs.

LED Bulbs are key to major savings of electricity and Gov must ensure that there is minimum tax and LED Bulbs which will ensure increase in sales of LED bulbs. Gov must also ensure that all Gov offices and public places are lit with LED bulbs only.

Scheme is good but whosoever has launched it has not been able to tell the motive of it no doubt its energy saving device but its use has not been told how to use it if we hang it from the roof or fix it to the roof it gives more light but when placed on a wall its of no use as the light is not reflected from the back no doubt number of intelligent brains have been engaged to implement it but they seem to me have lack of knowledge on it as well in India have kuttcha houses where its use is a ?

Hello sir I feel government offices, public sector banks, government schools all should be encouraged to change lights so that people gets the confidence also street lights should also be replaced with LEDs if changes are brought at lower level then people will adapt to these changes automatically
