Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

Connect the cost of each LED with the Insurance, on purchase of this LED, they will get Rs 12 Insurance free. Or connect the cost with LPG Cylinder when supplied, it comes with LED Lamp, you can deduct LED cost amount from subsidy amount.

Now a days the State government Electricity Supply Company i.e. MESCOM have supplied 9 W bulbs to house holds at reasonable price, but most of the households in urban region use tubelights. Hence instead of supplying LED bulbs they should supply LED tubelights which i hope will be success

It should be made compulsory to corporate houses and new high end residential houses to turn to LED lighting within stipulated time frame. similar time frame should be drawn to factories and industrial colonies. Light tax may be introduced upon citizen by local bodies to help them upgrade street lights to LED.

For such a great work being done to popularize LEDs, I am so saddened the distribution in Tamil Nadu is very low.. Only 61,000 when compared to even neighboring states in which lakhs and lakhs are being given out.. Why??

Corporates shell out millions on advertising. Instead, they should give ONE FREE LED to consumers with their brand name endorsed on it. They can also have tie up with LED maker. Love my PM. Vande Maataram.

ONLY 3 STEPS ARE REQUIRED FOR THIS....(1) make sure high quality LED bulbs manufacturing capacity in INDIA is VERY VERY high. It will solve both availability & low price issue (2) Ensure it is available in each & every electric & hardware shops, even that of most remote areas also (3) increase tax on other than LED bulbs in such a way that LED bulbs are 25% cheaper to buy

Reduce the Import duty and Central Excise duty on LED bulbs and strips, so that they become affordable to the common populace of our country. Every unit of power saved is a unit generated. Hence fiscal incentives should be given to power saving equipments like LED lighting, Inverter technology refrigerators/AC so that power is saved by one and all in every sector and section of our country. States may be given incentives to promote uses of these product by lowering their respective VAT rates.

Energy saved is energy generated. we need light for various application, places and times. The latest technology gave birth to LED, which is portable, efficient and energy conservative also economical and safe when compared to other means of light.it also gives more light for watt of power. it can be used on DC and AC, so it can be used even in remote, just sunlight is there electricity is not must. The government need to involve NGO's, educational institutions to promote by student's education.
