Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

Dear Sir, Please stop production of traditional bulbs and making LEDs available at a cost which is almost in reach for general use. For Villages, distribution network to be framed with a a data bank which needs to be created on village to village level.Every person who opens account under pradhan mantri jan dhan yojna, jeevan beema yojna ,ujjwala yojna should be given free LED at the time of registration.Add campaigns on national TV for LED use. Hope this will increase the usage. Regards

There are only two ways - both to be taken simultaneously - to increase (I prefer this to encourage) use of LEDs: (1) Phase out production of old technology bulbs and (2) reduce the market price of LED bulbs.

make a complete chart of energy consumption(incandicent lamp, tubelight, cfl bulb and Led bulb). And their price, lifetime, radiation. Publish it to every household(in their regional language)
