Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

UJALA scheme is one of the best try of government of India. but now question arises is how to promote its use. best way is that ministers instead of giving useless speeches in public, they promote the use of LED bulb in their respective area. MLA have to visit their village once in every week and share the profits of use of LED. other way is to advertise LED through you tube, banners in small villages as they are not aware about LED.

Help existing CFL & Normal bulb makers to upgrade technologically so that they can start producing only LED bulbs. This can be a game changer... supply of old technology products will diminish.

Time bound program to start with all Government offices, PSU's, Defence Establishments, Municipalities etc. to replace all lighting fixtures with LED. Mandate that every NEW lighting setup has to be only LED. Similar mandate to be given to each and every industrial establishment - any new has to be only LED with a plan to replace all old one with LED.

LED requires less power. The power produced by Solar also less than other sources. So by using small solar panel combined with led can used in small villages or on street lamps.

LED bulbs should be used for all decorative lighting at memorials, buildings and roads because these are biggest power guzzlers.

1. Altogether ban production & marketing of conventional tungsten bulbs. 2. All domestic inverters are needed to be charged with hybrid technology i.e.Solar & Mains as even if we use most efficient lights, inverters consume significant amount of energy to recharge themselves. 3. Try for user friendly solutions in LED segment for common peoples' needs.
