Under UJALA scheme, the main objective is to promote efficient lighting, enhance awareness on using efficient equipment which reduces electricity bills and helps preserve the environment. Efficient light bulbs, like LEDs, consume only one-tenth of the energy used by ordinary bulbs to provide the same or better light output. So, we ask you to suggest ways for promoting the use of LEDs on this open discussion forum.

An energy-saving light bulb containing LEDs uses up to 80% less energy and lasts up to 25 times as long as a traditional incandescent bulb. There's just one problem: many people think that the quality of light coming from an LED bulb feels less natural

•Govt. should discuss with LED bulb manufacture and various research institute for how to create cheap LED bulb. • Electric company should replace the old normal bulb by LED bulb in very cheap price (at least in rural area and at least one bulb for awareness about LED bulb)

First ask companies to stop the production of CFL and bulb. Then create high voltage problem in supply of city.in this way there old equipment will be gone and they will be forced to buy new one .But gov make sure only high energy efficient product should only be available in the market. This idea is odd but will work for sure. But it is general benefits

After installing the LED bulbs, energy consumption units of each Govt building should be estimated and measured against the actuals every month. A major discrepancy b/w estimated and actuals will mean that lights/other electrical equipment are not being switched when not needed. The administrative officer should be made responsible for monthly audits and should be given the technology to track down the wrong-doers. The wasted money due to additional usage can be deducted from salaries.

All public places under Central Govt's control like Railway Stations, Airports, Offices of PSUs should be directed to switch to LEDs and the cost savings should be displayed as a ticker display in these places with a message to switch to LED bulbs. Citizens will be inspired by this positive action and will bring change in their spheres of influence.
