India is among 51 countries to sign the “Rome Declaration” on “Achieving Self-sufficiency in Safe Blood and blood products based voluntary non-remunerated donation”. Blood is an intrinsic requirement for health care and proper functioning of the health system. National AIDS Control Organization under Department of Health and Family Welfare has been primarily responsible for ensuring provision of safe blood for the country since 1992. National Blood Policy 2003 reiterates firmly the government’s commitment to provide safe and adequate quantity of blood, blood components and blood products.

However, in India, a needy patient or his relatives have to run from pillar to post in search of blood and the onus of procurement of blood still lies with the patient and not with the service provider.

Suggestions are invited on how to develop a nationally coordinated and well networked blood transfusion service in the country and reach 100% voluntary blood donation to enable us to meet the global goal of self sufficiency in blood and blood products.

I think dream of healthy India can be achieved only by our own strength that is Yoga & Ayurveda. I saw a women who cured external tumors of more than 5000 persons by ayurvedic medicines. Goit. should test their formulas and recognize them who are curing all incurable diseases. Anyone whether qualified or unqualified if posses special knowledge in Ayurveda should be called and given chance to prove his excellence in Ayurveda. And govt. Should also encourage few compulsory medical policies.

Truly everyone should participate voluntarily in blood donation. Except few NGOs, even concerned authorities are not interested in such camps. Prevalent corruption in blood banks has also disappointed common man. In emergency, without money particular group blood isn't available in blood banks. In fact, common man is aware, uproot corruption in blood banks, shortage of blood would not be seen or heard.

I believe that there be mandatory medical security for all citizens so that one does not die for lack of medical facilities which very much hpns at present, govt can at least start immediately with d mandatory MEDICLAIM for a sum of Rs 50 k/1 lac for the new born child, to be given at d time of applying for birth certificate of d child and linked with Aadhar no of the mother so that d forge certificates cannot be issued. Hope it come to d notice of PM sir and 1 does not die of lack of medicine

Govt. must launch a campaign "YES WE HAVE YES WE CAN" website to register as volunteer blood donor, this will encourage youngsters and will be helpful for India.
