India is among 51 countries to sign the “Rome Declaration” on “Achieving Self-sufficiency in Safe Blood and blood products based voluntary non-remunerated donation”. Blood is an intrinsic requirement for health care and proper functioning of the health system. National AIDS Control Organization under Department of Health and Family Welfare has been primarily responsible for ensuring provision of safe blood for the country since 1992. National Blood Policy 2003 reiterates firmly the government’s commitment to provide safe and adequate quantity of blood, blood components and blood products.

However, in India, a needy patient or his relatives have to run from pillar to post in search of blood and the onus of procurement of blood still lies with the patient and not with the service provider.

Suggestions are invited on how to develop a nationally coordinated and well networked blood transfusion service in the country and reach 100% voluntary blood donation to enable us to meet the global goal of self sufficiency in blood and blood products.

PK: I have a right to watch what I find good. I am a Hindu and Bajrang Dal / VHP / Etc. are not my representatives. I did not find anything objectionable in PK. Request, uphold the law of land and put a stop to vandalism of all self appointed moral / social brigades operating in country. Thank you.

As a progressive society I agree that we should not have controlled environment. However, I am dismayed to see people stand at liquor shop in early morning awaiting for it to open. This does not only spoil their health, it also crushes the morning productive hours of working class as they become alcoholic instead of workaholic, I therefore urge the ministry of health, to enforce a law so that liquor shops opened in all states only after 1300 hrs so that morning hours used productively.

Just like Jan Dhan Yojna we need a Health Insurance Scheme including out patient treatment for the common man at reasonable rate. The multinational insurance companies are looting the public in the name of Health Insurance.

Continuous innovative ideas and steps to be taken for Swachh Bharat...many celebs and national leaders are part of it but more important is that you have to connect the common man then only it will be successful...appoint the young and dynamic volunteers in every colleges and schools and business organization for this, give them honor and a token of reward. In this way more and more people will come and work for Swachh Bharat.

As we all know how important an ambulance is when someone is in need of medical help. But because of traffic(which is in most of the cities) patients may not meet specialized doctors or surgeons and also bcoz of not knowing which is the nearby hospital which can help them and many will loose life bcoz of these two.Traffic cant be controlled but patients can be taken to near by hospitals instead of searching for hospitals through HSS(hospital search system).Plz help me in discussing more on this.
